This place is called 'nintendolife' which I think says it all, however the comments on here are bullied by people who call out people for their love of Nintendo. Well I'm fed up of listening to their bullish remarks about blind fans who 'don't know what your talking about', etc. etc. etc. Just because you are happy to accept the downside to something Nintendo do/ have done doesn't mean you cannot see the other side of things, but the constant backlash from commenters is rude. I fell sure there are better suited websites for them.
Personally I love that that do not offer online chat, and video channels are not available on switch. But I dare not write this in comments due to negative comments in the past.

This is a place to write what you think is good about Nintendo and hopefully we can find like minded people to join in with us!! So please make no negative comments or replies, just go somewhere else!!!

I think Dew meant "this thread". He's launching it so, even though he can't control whatever people will post, he can call for whatever he wants it to be. (the same way any thread is "oriented" by its title)

I am a big Nintendo fan, I don't mind being called a Nintendo fanboy (I can appreciate Playstation too but Nintendo is the one I love the most usually) but what you are asking for is just wrong! If all we do is praise what Nintendo does and never talk about the negative things Nintendo will never improve what they could (and often should) improve. It is good to give fair criticism about what you buy because in the long run it could make those things even better.

I don't care about online chat, but I want multimedia apps. You say you love there are no multimedia apps on Switch but why you just don't avoid them and don't care if they are available? Nobody would force you to use them but other people could if they want.

I really want Switch to be my favourite console, but I have recently bought a PS4 and I have to say that right now I prefer it than Switch because it offers more functions that are important for me. I want Switch to improve because I am a Nintendo fan and I want it to be my favourite console, that's why I talk about the flaws it has for me.

This site is meant for people who love Nintendo consoles, not for people who love to blindly praise and worship anything Nintendo does like the only purpose of their life was just to please the ego of people at Nintendo.

@dew12333 Compared to other websites I find Nintendolife a remarkably pleasant and friendly community. Few sites I visit or have visited come close. Facebook fanpages, Reddit, Kotaku, YouTube even places like Gamefaqs and such generally are absolute cancer. Full of endless vulgarity, insults, racism, death threats and the like. Occasionally there is some toxicity that seeps through, though the mods (even if I don't agree 100% of the time) are pretty good at slapping it down and keeping things pretty chill.

@LuckyLand Hey I agree with you that Nintendo don't do everything correct, and things from other companies, in a lot of cases, are down better elsewhere. However this is the product that you are buying, so expecting things that are not promised is extremely misguided.

And let's be honest there are lots of good and positive things to discuss.

Nintendo makes fun and complete games. They make the best portables. They know how to get me straight in the childhood and unlike a huge amount of comments in other areas: I am not sick of replaying NES games yet! I look forward to the Nintendo Switch online special offers and free games. I can't wait for more classic games to hit the eshop that aren't called Virtual Console, because its just a name. I love Zelda, Mario, Kirby, Pokemon, F-Zero, Star Fox, Punchout, Bayonetta, Super Smash and a great place for Megaman. Sony and Microsoft exclusives can't hold a candle to these franchises. I love the cute little amiibos and Mario's parties. I am a 30 year old fanboy and only Nintendo seems to get me excited about the future of gaming.

Feels weird to kick this thread off without any concrete examples of this 'constant backlash'. Not saying people aren't generally critical of Nintendo here (and understandably so), that's easily observable. However, saying people get bullied because of their opinions is a pretty strong claim.

It also strikes me as weird because, from my perspective, the community here tends to swim against the current noticeably more than in other sites, even if the contrarian side of the argument still doesn't constitute the majority of voices in most cases.

So is this a "safe space"?

I like Nintendo, but this site is excellent because we can share views with each other. We might not always agree, but it usually stays civil. I guess we are all Nintendo fans, but our expectations are all different. We all want Nintendo to be the best they can.

Hi, I don't have any experience on other websites and how bad comments may get there, but I find people just expect far too much and can be demanding of that. And as much as try to respect others opinions I have been lambasted for my own. I recently wrote that I didn't like the 'nindies' and got shot down for it. Personally I thought I was safe writing in the forum named' unpopular gaming opinions'! as I appreciate a lot of people like them and that it would be unpopular. I didn't realise you had to put up with people telling you how wrong you are. Also the recent comments on the story about Nintendo not doing the virtual console anymore.

@dew12333 A bit abstract still, but that's something I guess.

Indie games can be a bit of a hairy topic for some, since most of them are more personal projects than the vast majority of games published by big corporations and they've struggled against the prejudice of not being "real games" for years. Depending on how you word it, it might not be an unpopular opinion at all but an very tired and uninformed opinion people have read way too many times by now.

Besides that, I haven't read your post in that thread or the replies it got, but I remember avoiding that thread after it got way too heated once, so I believe you. That said, I'm assuming you didn't read at least a few pages before posting? Otherwise, you'd have seen the general tone of the thread.

Asking me to not expect more and better than what Switch was on launch day is the same as asking Nintendo to keep the Switch exactly as it was on launch day.
Take a look at how many updates they made so far.
If they can make updates to their console I can ask for the things I would like too, expecially if those thongs don't need any change on the hardware but could be made with an update.
The thing is, speaking about the things you don't like or the things you miss in a product can be something constructive and help both you in obtaining what you want and the product itself in being improved and maybe being more aporeciated by other people too.
Right now Switch don't need this that much but making it even better can't be a bad thing anyway.
