if any of you have a ps3 they are doing a resident evil revival collection containing both code veronica and resident evil 4
Too bad they're reviving Code Veronica X instead of the original Dreamcast version. RE:CV X has added dialogue that I found lame and unnecessary. I guess Capcom figured Resident Evil hadn't become soap opera enough already.
...in my pants.

Code Veronica on the other hand was the first Resident Evil to be completely 3D, how is that a step backwards?Anyway I still wish Capcom had gone with their original character concept of Leon Kennedy.Instead they turned him into a cartoon. Are those pajamas?

Ugh. I hate old games that look like that. :l

It still baffles me that they went with the bottom character design for Leon.....The original is so much better. But as for the original Claire..Yikes!

Now that I've finally beaten Zero which was the only RE I never fully played I'm going to throw down my favorite to least in the franchise.
Resident Evil The greatest RE Experience I've ever had, it was incredible, unique and haunting during it's release. There was nothing else like it on the market. It was also the fist time I heard real voices come out of an in game character before....I never realised at 12 how cheesy some of the dialogue was. I was too wowed by it all. It felt like i was stuck in some haunting Romero Zombie flick. the game was just so distinct and unique, I never played anything or saw anything like it. The prerendered environments were gorgeous, the jumps scares were crazy, the zombies were freaky....And speaking of zombies/the undead....It was a very RARE thing indeed having zombies in a videogame during that time.
RE3: Nemesis Easily my favorite sequal, I loved how it took place out doors most of the time, how the undead came in tons of variety including fat zombies and the ammount that were on screen were pretty crazy at times. It was more action packed this time around and it felt less restricted. And I loved how you were being stalked by a large bio weapon, although i found the Nemesis to be a smidge cheesy in the design appartment.
RE Zero Underrated! Younger Marcus aside, this game was a unique step in the franchise and was quite the blast!Brilliant score, incredible graphics, the failed tyrant was awesome, the character Zapping system and item dropping was a great step up and made the experience feel fresh and I just loved the Train, Researchers Facility and Church compound areas of the game. Zero feels more like a spiritual successor to the original RE, and is more in tune rather than RE2, 3 and CV ever were. Too bad the final act was a bit weak...The giant frogs just weren't threatening, and the layout confused the hell out of me to no end. And that ending?lol Cutesy Rebecca mindlessly wanders of to the mansion not even 2 minutes after they escape and leaves Billy on his own. Talk about unrealistic, and ridiculous.lol
RE2I'm still confused on this....A good sequal, but i liked the original much more. Leon looked like a cartoon, i couldn't stand Ada and the more i got further into the experience the more I disliked it for some reason. My favorite part of the game is actually the beginning when you're outside in the streets for 15 minutes, and the beginning of the Police Station. I remember being so inredibly excited for this to release back on the PS1, yet being kind of dissapointed with it once i got my hands on it. It wasn't scary at all, and it didn't retain that chilling and haunting score of the original. Birkins gradual tranformation and the fact he was looking for Ashley was pretty creepy awesome though.
RemakeSolid game...But for those who experienced the original during launch, it wasn't exactly fresh and you knew what was going to happen regarding the plot. The graphics during the time were incredible, and the voice overs were a giant step up. But oddly enough it all felt stale for me at this point. I know the game offered new things over the original, but i just didn't care. The darker, more gothic visuals made many of the rooms look the same and they just didn't stick out. Sometimes bright lighting can make a room more creepy, but the remake is all darkness from beginning to end. I also didn't really care for the whole Lisa Trevor story, and Forests body/area was handled horribly, there was zero tension either. It was sooo much better in the original.
Code VeronicaNot a fan of this one at all....It felt so stale, boring and a step backwards compared to RE3. I've already mentioned why this one doesn't float my zombie boat, so i won't bother.

Whoops, i was talking about the traditional franchise.RE4 and RE5 are in a different territory imo, and then there's the OutBreak and Gun Sirvor titles which i wouldn't even bother counting at all.

If your gonna say, excluding 4 + 5, which are amazing resi games, then say so, but don't not refer to them as they are part of the Resident Evil franchise.

RE5 was amazing? really? I thought it was good, but dissapointing at the same time. What a way to cut and paste.I'm still torn as to weather i prefer 4 or 5....At the end of the day, I'd probably pick 5. Too bad the enemies don't react as good as they did in RE4 to bullets. In RE4 you could pop them in the kness and they'd fall to the ground while running, nones of that applies to RE5.... and on single player Sheve always took my shots.

RE1, 2 and 3 are free, and discounts on both RE4 and RE CVX for getting PS plus membership. Should I take the plunge? It is very tempting, But I already have 2 and Deadly Silence. And RE:R is looking to be my #1 most anticipated game for next year.
