If they didn't they would have went bankrupt and Marvel wouldn't even exist today.
I am probably missing something but I don't understand how keeping the movie rights and producing them themselves rather then selling them to other studios would have caused them to go bankrupt and not exist.
At the time that the movie rights were sold, Marvel was going through huge financial problems, and bankruptcy was a very real possibility. Marvel had to sell off some of their assets (such as the movie-franchise licenses) in order to subsidize the business as a whole. Because they made these sorts of sales, Marvel was able to stay afloat before successfully reviving their brand with solid successes.

Wow I didn't know that at all. Somehow I totally missed that part. So yeah that makes sense on why they sold the movie rights.

Spiderman 1 is on netflix. Also 3 is really underrated.
I think I mentioned that on the last page (maybe the page before that?), but it's good to have a reminder for those who may have missed it.
Oh, and on the topic of Spider-Man 3, I agree.
People really attack that movie like they have some sort of blood feud with it. It's gotten to the point where most people can't even remember what's wrong with it so they just mention the dance scene. I saw it again the other day, not perfect, but really fun movie.

It helps that Spider-man for the longest time my favorite hero and the lead up and watching the three Rami flicks are built in too my brain. I was so excited for Spider-man 3 and Venom happened to be my favorite spider rouge of all time. I had the novelization before the film came out the birth of venom TPB. I even had two copies of the game for 360 and DS.
WAT!

The only problem I saw with Spiderman 3 was the fact that they had too many villains and they didn't expand on them. Yeah I know if they would have it would have been a really long movie. Honestly IMO they should have either had New Goblin and Venom or Sandman and New Goblin but not all three. The character development was just not there. Yeah I also know that Raimi didn't want Venom but the studio did to please the fanboys, which was one reason that Raimi didn't come back for a fourth one. Still I thought the actor that played Eddie/Venom did a good job and it was an enjoyable movie this was just a case of too many cooks spoil the stew kind of thing. Honestly a villain like Venom they should have saved for one of the sequel cause he needs his backstory developed alot more then how Spiderman 3 did it.

I feel that if Venom was more.. masculine, it would have been more accepted. He just wasn't the giant monster that fans wanted or expected. When I think Venom I think of this big muscular horror with a big tongue and nasty teeth. What we got was a guy that for some reason looked like he was wearing a Spider-Man suit with a weak irritating scream. I feel if they would have made him bigger with a more ferocious roar he may have been more accepted. They could have picked a bigger actor to play Eddie, too.. Topher just did not fit the part.
That being said.. I like Spider-Man 3. Yeah, it had it's fair share of cheese.. but Sand-Man is awesome. It's definitely a better movie than The Amazing Spider-Man. That was way to cringe-worthy for me. Hopefully they remedy that in the next one, which I'm looking forward too, despite my distaste for the first.
I think I would have loved Spiderman 3 a whole heck of a lot better if they hadn't completely butchered Venom and the cheesyness in this installment was off the charts compared the the previous 2. But I have to say I don't think the original is that much better than 3. However, Spiderman 2 is hands down the best of the trilogy.
Eh as a big Venom fan you can't really butcher a character's who was the proto type of the 90s bad characters. I love me some venom but he was always a dumb reverse spider-man who's whole motivation is that he got dumped by peter so to speak. Best thing that happened to the concept in the comics was Agent Venom.

I think it would be awesome if the Venom symbiote got a hold of the Hulk and actually kept hold. That would be one threatening enemy. Yeah. I know, Hulk has healing powers which makes him resist the symbiote.. but still. It would be a cool mash up. Forgive me if this has already been done, I don't keep up on comics that much.

It has only kind of been done. Red Hulk bonded with Venom and Ghost Rider's spirit and became Venom Ghost Rider Hulk, but that's about it.

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
It was good as always, but it's too bad it's the only Avengers saga film that FX doesn't hold the syndication rights to (they have IM, IM2, Thor, & CA). If they had the rights to tIH as well (and if they get the rights to the Avengers in the future), they could probably pull in good ratings by having an Avengers day, where they'd show all six movies in one day. That'd be cool.
