Topic: Ever played Mario Kart Arcade GP?

I was watching some Mario Kart footage today, and I stumbled upon a game I've only played about twice, which is Mario Kart Arcade GP. It is said to have about a thousand items, and it has a big focus on driving mechanics (which are relatively realistic). It also had Pacman. Freaking Pacman. I asked my friend, who is a Mario Kart fan, if he has ever heard of it, and it turns out he hasn't. It feels very obscure, though it is one of the biggest Mario Kart games (content wise), so it lead me to wonder, anyone of you, fellow Nintendo fans, ever play the game? How was your experience? Do you wish you can play it one day?

Also, yes, I am talking collectively about both games, Arcade GP and Arcade GP 2.

Never played it. Seems cool though. Nintendo arcade games seem like they'd be loads of fun.

I played Mario Kart Arcade GP 2 a few times a while ago. It's a great game. I hope a console version (home or portable) is made.

I played it. Honestly didn't like it compared to Mario Karts or arcade racing games.

I've played GP. Went into this dinky arcade in Kerrville TX when I was there to get my Apple certification updated and it was actually pretty cool. That being said, I still prefer the DS and 3DS games.

Plain old gamer :)

Yes I have, when I was on holiday in Florida a few years back, I found this little arcade down the road from our hotel and saw Mario Kart GP, it was actually pretty good if I remember correctly. I also remember seeing a Pac-man... I think I chose Mario though...

I've played the first one. Wasted most of my tokens at the arcade I was at though. That game is expensive!

Why do people point to their wrists when asking for the time, but don't point to their crotch when they ask where the bathroom is?

I played it in Japan, racing against the strangest mix of people you'll ever see - hardcore otaku, girl dressed up as a Disney princess, schoolkids (or at least people dressed in school uniforms), and the most musclebound Japanese dude you can possibly imagine. He must have been on their rugby team.

Anyway. I enjoyed the experience, though I'm not sure if that's because I enjoyed racing as Pacman, or because I was in a Japanese arcade.

Played it. The steering controls were way too slippery to be even remotely useful.

I have to second this.

I remember I played the first one while I had a day to do something when I went to Australia for the Nintendo Connection Tour of 2010. It was alright, not as good as the other titles though :/. Which was quite disappointing since it was the only Nintendo related arcade game in there . I remember it demanded quite a lot of coinage (or tokens) but I guess since I sucked against the CPU that's probably why .

I saw it once while I was on a cruise. Never got to play it, though.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

Yes, I've played it. It's not really as good as other Maio Karts in my opinion. I didn't really like the Namco characters either. It's still a fun game though. I wouldn't mind a port.

They used to have it at a bowling alley that I've been to but they only had it one time I was there and I don't remember much of it apart from playing as Yoshi. I hope Mario kart arcade GP 2 gets ported to a Nintendo console at some point as its more of an expansion of the first one than a sequel.
