There was one point when I got last year's version of a game (that version sucked) instead of this year's (which was awesome) and I forced out a thank-you to make my folks happy.
Actually my dad played it and hated it. So he felt my pain.
this happens every birthday for me. my parents let me pick out my gifts, but my uncles and aunts like to completely ignore my wishlist. i know that i shouldnt be complaining, and that i should be grateful they got me anything at all, but still itd be nice if they looked at my list once in a while

i think we all have, lol. it's the thought that counts, after all, so just accept it graciously and then set it aside. never know when even things you don't want now will come in handy later on down the line :3

Yes. If the person actually cares about your birthday, they should understand that you would slightly prefer Bad Company 2 to Super Mario Galaxy 2, and be happy that you got what you really wanted.

Um lol? Nah, it isn't a game, or preorder of a game.
"Oh woes, StarBoy is talking in teh third person!" I exclaim off-topically. @Random 'Twas a joke. This topic reminded me of BB Thrilla's for whatever reason.
you don't want an HDTV? i don't understand; do you just not have any use for it or something? or are you trying to say that you can't accept a gift of something that expensive from the person involved?

I have no problems accepting it, I'm a bit greedy , its just that it is small, smaller than my current SDTV that I already have trouble seeing, even with my glasses on. Plus I can't get HD channels without one of those cable box thingies, which costs more, and I don't have a bluray player. So basically, it won't be used for anything it is meant for.
The Game.
Is it after 9PM EST? You should probably ignore the above post.
Yeah, but you just be thankful that you even get presents and that's that. Although my aunt, who's also my godmother, bought me a box of cookies from the grocery store once as a present and I was like WTF, cookies? I'm a grown man.
It was actually last Christmas, not my birthday, my dad had me thinking that my grandma got me Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky, then on Christmas I open the bag from my grandparents and inside is a G-Force dvd. I swear, I really wanted to cry.
@RWP: ah, i see. well, what kind of monitor do you have for your computer? perhaps you can use it as a replacement for an older CRT model instead? or perhaps you can use it as a second TV in your home instead of using it to replace your primary?
either way, hey, free TV. that SDTV's gonna go sometime, may as well throw the new one into a closet if you don't plan on using it for now, lol.
