Topic: Error Code 018-0516..

Yep, it's that one again.
That cursed 018-0516 error code. And while I'm sure most of you know of it, I'll still tell you what it is anyway.

It's an error code that a lot of people get when you try online multiplayer (for most games e.g. Smash Bros or Mario Kart) be it with friends or with anyone, that prevents you from playing. Many places on the internet tell many different things, but what I see most is that it is about port forwarding. I don't know if that's true, but it is extremely frustrating.

I have tried every single solution that every website has told, and none of them have worked! As far as I am aware, it is a common problem, as well.

If anyone has an idea, or even something that they know works, please, please tell me. I am desperate to play Smash and Mario Kart 8 online, but I can only do so at a friend's place

You feel my pain. I went through 3 hours with a Nintendo Rep and it still isn't resolved. They said it was a problem with the ISP, but I'm too lazy to call them.

I too feel your pain. Everything worked fine except the online bits of Animal Crossing New Leaf (3DS). I wasted many hours and days and almost got banned by the Nintendo Helpdesk trying to solve it. Port forwarding, DMZ, virtual networks... nothing helped. In the end i just gave up, bought a new and better modem/router and that did the trick.
