Essentially what he said is that the Zelda and Mario teams are doing great, and don't need him anymore, and to quote him he wants to be in the "forefront of game development once again." Honestly this is some of the best news I've heard in a long while.

He was stepping down as General Manger to go back into active development at a new nintendo studio. He's going to be teaching younger Dev's as they work on smaller projects.
