You might be the only person who watched the Avengers and felt that moment was dumb. What was bad about that? I don't get it....

What? Attempting the profound and managing the obvious and stupid isn't enough?

Oh, I've got another one:
The Secret of NIMH 2: Timmy to the Rescue - first of all, an affront to the outstanding original, shame on them. So what's so dumb about it? Oh, you're going to love this! Get ready: turns out that the secret of NIMH is that Timmy's older brother Martin is the bad guy as a crazy singing scientist voiced by Eric Idle; never mind that they don't clearly explain how events transpired that way in the movie, all we know is Martin's the bad guy... for some reason. And you know what's ironic about that? Even though the sequel's really bad, that sequence right there with Eric Idle in it is perhaps the most fun portion of the movie (as dumb as it is); everything else is bad, don't get me wrong, but this segment? Wow! It's the entertaining kind of bad. Also, way to totally sideline everything that Mrs. Brisby did in the first movie, sequel! Geez, that's just wrong.

Oh, you want to know what else is ironic? Years ago another sequel to another movie was made: Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil. That movie was dumb, but I was absolutely taken aback when I noticed that it and The Secret of NIMH 2 had one thing in common. One thing!!! Both movies start with a narration of what went down in the predecessor and what will happen in the current one,... all while showing footage from the previous movie (albeit with desaturated color schemes) before it starts showing the animation from the sequel. You know it's not a good sign when the first movie's animation (albeit for a minute or two) is shown right before the second movie starts showing its animation (in the same movie), and that's one of the first signs that the sequel will not deliver the same enjoyment that the last movie offered (it's also a sign of low quality). But here's the difference: one of them was DTV while the other was theatrical; I have a feeling this was more than a similar coincidence (something tells me that one of the people at Weinstein saw the second NIMH movie and thought to themselves: "Hmm, maybe we should have an opener just like that one!").

awkward laugh No, it wasn't. In fact, it's very disturbing (and totally unfaithful to the comics).

Seems funny to me — a bit jarring, but that's kind of the point. Looking back on the older Spiderman movies Tobey Maguire can sometimes be uncomfortable to watch, as his emotional states vary from depressing to pathetic. It was almost a relief to see him show a looser side, with a (to me) more humorous alter ego.

Also in TASM 2 when Green Goblin "figures out" Peter's identity because he just happens to be near someone who knows Peter.

Little hint Mark Webb, not every villain needs to know the good guy's secret identity. Doc Ock didn't know it, the Joker didn't know it, and Sandman didn't know it.

So has anyone else been bothered by that scene in frozen when (SPOILER) the villain is about to kill Elsa and Anna steps in and turns to ice. How does a sword get shattered into a bunch of pieces by ice?

...Is that...scene supposed to be dumb? Ice is usually really solid, I can only imagine that a completely frozen person is solid as all hell.
Now that think about it, the sword breaking into pieces doesn't make much sense, but it wasn't gonna cut her anyway, so may as well break it into pieces instead of making that "Phswing!" Zelda sound (what? Too appropriate?)

I recently watched the first Spider-Man movie and...god, Tobey was TERRIBLE in it. He looks and acts like the most boring character ever, why would Mary Dunst fall in love with him?
I don't have very fond memories of him from Spidey 2 and 3, so I'm going to assume he sucked and take Andrew Garfield as my Spider-Waifu.

Talking about Andrew Garfield...

Dumbest scene in a movie
The most recent example I can think of is every single scene involving Max Dilllon (pre-Electro) in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. God, that character was pathetic. Not even sympathetic, just pathetic.
Electro wasn't much better, but eh.

Meh, Electro was a big improvement on the Lizard from TASM1 if you ask me. At the very least Electro had some sort of transition from good to bad, and it makes a small bit of sense that a mentally broken guy like that goes crazy. Conners goes from normal to TAKE OVER THE WORLD instantaneously.

Tobey's Peter is supposed to be the sympathetic doofus you feel bad for, and he does it pretty well. He's not the most exciting character in the world, but he's a lot better than Garfield's "Be a jerk to everyone not named Gwen or Harry" Peter. I'm sorry, but I just couldn't root for the guy. It seems like Gwen, Harry, and his parent's deaths are the only things he doesn't act like a jerk about. I don't remember a single moment where he respected an adult.

Not saying that you may have enjoyed it otherwise, but the problem may be that you thought The Avengers was supposed to be profound. It was just an alien invasion movie starring a mecha, a time-displaced war hero, a thunder god, two superspies, and a big green monster, and an incredibly fun one at that. If you thought the movie was insulting your intelligence, you're probably over-thinking it.

No wasn't expecting the movie to be profound, (if I wanted it, I wouldn't be looking in a superhero movie), was expecting the movie to be fun. It wasn't. The movie was meant to be ridiculous, what they were attempting with that quote just didn't fit (compounded with the line being naturally terrible). Minus the slapstick, transformed Hulk was one of the very few things I enjoyed about the movie

More like terrible opions the thread.

The Godzilla Victory dance is as cheesy as a rubber dinosar flick should be.

The Black Suit dance makes more sense when you remember its Sam Rami who's directing.

The I'm always angry scene was awesome.

Mine goes to the ending of Man of Steel where everyone is honkey dorey about the city being ripped to shreads by two super powerful alien combatents.

WAT!
