It has already happen. It is far cheaper to buy an suppped up PC ( or even convert an 128GB Mac intel to Windows machine ) and just use that to play games instead. They have tons of PC products out their that are super cheap folks.

These game companies lie to us and devalue our purchases time and time again. We have tools out their who just keep buying and buying DLC that one day they will look back and realize they are not buying a real physical product at all.

What about handhelds

The game market will not even come close to crashing. Sales aren't bad at all. As people have said, there is hype and everybody pre-orders the game to be disappointed. Publishers are still making profit from pre-orders themselves. Also, PlayStation could still be around when Sony goes out. The brand can be sold off and continued.

konami is having a lot of problems along with sega is this a bigger sign that the crash is coming

I think a crash will happen, but what part of the market and how big of a crash I have no idea. I am constantly surprised Smart Phone apps hasn't crashed, very few apps actually succeed and the market is way to flooded, but it is still going. the AAA market is requiring more and more money, and that is no a good thing. The AAA market will not disappear but each AAA game requiring to be a record breaker to make money is not good. So I am not sure when or where a crash will happen, but I think there will be a crash.

I think we are at the start of one look at sega and konami also all of the older gaming companies have been having some problems also the mobile market is nearing the crash point
We are at crash point where the market is having signs of a crash but we have not went to the low point.
But the console market is in a bubble the hype bubble and it is going to pop by the end of gen 8

No, i don't think there will be a rescission.

In 10 years do you think we will be in a similar market in 10 years? Do you think we will see a major shift in the market within 10 years? I think 10 years is a short time span for such a big market but I also see major changes on the horizon. I think a part of the industry is going to head into rough times, possibly so rough that it will disappear. I don't think the entire industry will crash but I think certain parts of the industry are vulnerable and the current market isn't sustainable. That is why I think there could be a crash coming, all of video games isn't going to crash but I think a part of the market will. What do you think?

Short answer: the industry will of course change over time - whether that's in 10 or 20 years or more remains to be seen, and will be highly dependent on evolutions in electronic and computing technologies.

The simple fact is that the gaming industry is now firmly established as one of the pillars of the entertainment industry as a whole across the globe. Much like the music/recording industry, TV & film industries and book/publishing industries have all changed and evolved over time (often with the necessary growing pains involved with such changes), the gaming industry will change over time. But will it ever crash to the point of disappearing or becoming extensively marginalized? No.

I agree that the Video Game Industry as a whole will not crash, but I feel like one of the markets within the Industry is heading towards a crash. Whether that market is the Smart Phone business or AAA console games, I am not sure but I feel like one of those markets won't last without a major change.

Right now with key people leaving the big companies like Kojima, Inafune, The Castlevania creator whose name escapes me right now big companies like Konami, Capcom will crash or at least leave they game industry. While they might not be able to use the Mega Man, or Metal Gear names people will look at games like Mighty No. 9 as Mega Man games or this new Castlevania like game as the next Castlevania something that Capcom and Konami won't give us gamers. As a result people will support these guys and stop supporting the bigger companies or at least not as much.

If Kojima started his own studio came out with a spiritual seccessor to the Metal Gear series as well as a game based off of the P.T. demo and that Castlevania like game comes out what will Konami have that people would want?

So no the industry as a whole won't crash, but I think big companies will.

Maybe someday, but I have a feeling that by that point, society itself will have crumbled, and we'll be too busy eating dirt, and trying not to be eaten by the worms within the dirt, to worry about it.
