Honestly I would expect a new gen crash if that makes sense. Where gamers stop buying new current gen consoles and stick with their previous gen consoles or even start buying the older consoles like the Dreamcast and PS2. One of the gaming stores I go to the owner has told me that in the last couple of months PS2'S have been outselling PS4. He's even had people trade in PS4s due to being disappointed and tired of all the bs and get PS2s along with a stack of games.

I would never trade the PS4 for the PS2, but I do miss those simpler times. Once my local Gamestop starts getting PS2s in again I'm going to buy one and a bunch of games. Dumbest gaming-related decision I ever made was selling my PS2 to fund 360, PS3 and Wii purchases.

Honestly I expect a next gen recession. Not quite the video game crash but close to it. Like how US had the stock market crash in 1929 and the recession of 06-12 that wasn't a crash but close to it.. That sort of deal.

I think they're in the minority and just lack patience. The games are about to start rolling in too.

The 8th gen is forming a pretty precarious bubble right now. Games are being hyped like crazy, and continually disappointing consumers. Eventually that hype bubble is going to pop.

all we need is a very bad over hyped game(like call of duty or something in that area) that is too broke to be fix by updates and DLC or a game that has too much DLC can do it also if the PS4 has a super bad game(like et scale bad)or worse(it could happen with the 3rd parties now).
I think near the end of Gen. 8 there will be a crash or a reshuffle in the market
they could be good that comes out of the crash
(1)a new console player could come in and restart the market
(2)the 3rd parties can go back to its roots
(3)that new ideas will come out and change the market forever
Now if one happens who should or is more likely to move on and who is going to go?

That is what could happen and Sony is still saying greatness awaits and it still not here it really means:

I would trade a ps4 in for a ps2
1.no paid internet
2.local mutil.
3.tons of games
4.Have games that are not broken or with DLC
That if I had a ps4

You know which market i wish would crash....mobile gaming.I see my friends and family playing those irritating mobile games and they find it fun. I understand there a few gems in there that are worthy but when you have hundreds of thousands of shoddy games and rip offs of those shoddy games, it begs the question, why is this popular?

Well, I say "pop" rather than "crash", because I don't think the market will ever "crash" like it did in the 80s. What I think will happen is that a certain style of business will no longer become viable, and several companies will be forced to downsize or close shop.

But I don't think EA, Activision, or Ubisoft, etc. will go under. Squeenix or Capcom maybe, but I think that'd be the biggest damage.

Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F

Don't knock them till you try them. A lot of mobile games can be really fun (Doodle Jump is still my personal favorite). They aren't exactly deep experiences, but they are fun quick distractions with arcade-style gameplay.

Really they aren't too different from browser games, and you don't see people complaining about those.

Sony is not going to leave the market. In fact, if Sony were to go under in every other area, the Playstation brand would quite likely live on, as it's one of their few profitable enterprises.

As for a crash, well, I do think the current model of making AAA games is unsustainable. Not sure if it's going to lead to a crash; probably not, but I do expect us to see a few changes in the next decade or so.

It be nice if EA and activision and ubisoft went out for all there problems

@Andrew20 Activision won't go under if anything because they are tied together with Blizzard, and Blizzard is doing very well.

You answered your own question in that paragraph, because so many people find them fun.

Probably should of rephrased that but oh well. either way I don't enjoy mobile gaming. Console and portable games FTW. I expect next gen to have trouble getting off the ground at some point.

I hope Ubisoft collapses like THQ did.

(They deserve it for the utter contempt they treat their customers with).

They can't they are one and the same company in that regard. On paper they are one and the same however each part is ran as a separate entity.

Besides the CoD games are quite profitable.
