http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gw2-KMAGCq0i think the sound is really scary. Don't you think? But at the same time it's really cool too.

I love that sound. That sound was synonymous with all those awesome FF7 memories after I'd saved up and bought my PS1/FF7/memory card in 6th grade. I'm pretty sure that, pound for pound, that is the absolute fondest gaming memory I have, despite how awesome FF6 was the first time I played (and the comparative younger age). But yeah, that sound is the cornerstone of civilization.

I really like the sound though even though it's scary. It gives you a high adrenaline kick and makes you ready for the new game. Plus it has a deep and dark melody which makes you want to show no mercy to the games.

Umm...I don't think it's scary at all.

Sounds like you're starting something pretty epic. My favorite "startup sound" is that THX audio sound. I crank up the surround sound until I can feel it in my chest whenever I know it's about to play.

Magi, better than the standard THX effect is their more recent "thunder" edit. Can't find any video of it, but there's audio out there.
And to the TC...? Ummmm, no.

Speaking of THX and thunder, I always liked the older Dolby Digital intro video. Much "scarier" than the PS intro

I Agree, there is nothing scary about, the only thing that's wrong with it is that every time I hear it,it makes me wish I can relive the 90's again. 90's FTW

I don't find it scary. What is frightening is when the volume of the T.V. was left cranked up and its first thing in the morning and you turn on the PS2.

Yeah I find it scary, but not in the way the topic title suggests.

Not really. Just plain bland, that's all. And I'm talking PS1.

No, not at all.
Is it after 9PM EST? You should probably ignore the above post.

No, and the Sega Saturns startup screen is better in my opinion.
