The 'What time do you go to bed thread?' ended up turning into 'What gun is under your pillow thread?' sooooo.... I was wondering who here owns a gun and have you ever used it. Being from the UK, the American fascination with guns has always intrigued me, and being that there is a lot of Americans on these forums I thought it would be a good place to ask. Over here guns are illegal and it is a very serious offence to have one (we use knives instead!!!) and the police actively seek out people who have them.We have a gun amnesty once a year to hand in any guns anonymously. Have you ever been in a scary situation with a gun and do you feel that you should have the right to own/use one? Not being judgemental here guys, just curious is all.
Gun? Why would I own a gun? I'd be crazy to own a gun! It's an instrument of death! I don't want to kill anyone!
It scares the crap out of me how casual American's are about guns, hasn't the odd high school massacre made you think twice about making them readily available. And no I don't need a gun to defend myself, before anyone says that's what they're for. Having a gun in your home seems like a really silly thing to do, as you may end up having it turned against you. I'm very grateful guns are not the norm over here, yet i fear the day they are.
Well I have a Softair (known as Airsoft in English) but real guns are illegal in Germany. (Except you're working for the Police or Military or you're a hunter or member of a shooting club)
They're not "illegal".
You have to have a permit and keep them under lock and key, but they're not illegal.
Yes, and while I've drawn to intimidate (successfully, I might add) in a home defense scenario, I've thankfully never had to let it speak for me. The story: I heard voices in my driveway one night, looked out my window, and saw a car that wasn't mine parked there. So I went out there and from a distance behind the car (long driveway), I alerted the occupants that I was armed and directed them to get out of the car one by one and explain themselves immediately. Turns out they were running from a road-rage incident and took refuge in my driveway. Seemed legit, as they were dressed like they'd just came from a night out. The poor guys had gone from the frying pan to the fire. So I let them in and we had a drink to ease down. Oh, and they needed to piss really bad too. LOL! Man, I'd love to hear them tell that story to their friends!

I had a spud gun when I was a kid, it rocked!
Yeah that's my feelings on the matter too. IMO I think all guns and WMD's should be destroyed and if you want a war you go man on man. Anyone's tough with a gun in their hand, has no one seen the end of The last Samuri As for defending yourself ,well if there was no guns surley a baseball bat would suffice or a Tazer gun. But that's just me I'm a pacifist at heart. If I had a problem with someone I'd rather sit down with a brew and a joint and talk it over. And if he still dosen't agree with me then I'll stove his head in with the baseball bat.(just kiddin')
