This is a hard one for me to decide on. Classic Nintendo titles have a certain charm to them that's very hard to match, but the new ones are doing so many things right that I'm sure they'll have the same charm 10-20 years from now.
My Top 9 Favorite Games of All time.

9. James Bond 007 Nightfire
I prefer older Nintendo game experiences to the newer experiences especially since a fair amount of the releases now are either seemingly low effort port jobs or games that have their content spread out over an update schedule. I think the creativity and personality isn't as prominent as it once was with some exceptions. For me personally, the most enjoyable Nintendo games came in 2004-2007.
"The secret to ultimate power lies in the Alimbic Cluster."
In general, though, most of my favorite Nintendo games are newer.
And by "newer," I mean GCN/GBA and on.
Unlike a lot of fans, I don't have a huge amount of love for most of the SNES and N64 era games. And while I love my NES, most of the games are incredibly basic.
I mean personally I prefer old school games as they where much cheaper to buy and new game came out every 6 months or a year at most. Now games are like £50 to £100 and take 2-6 years for a new game to come out. I know there more things to do in new school games but I feel like they are these days too focus on graphics than actual gameplay or story mode. This is about every console and game.
This is why I asked the question.
For me I am more in the middle when it comes to Nintendo since I mostly grew up on the old school games like smw. But there are games I like in the new school classics like mario maker and mario kart 8.
@Dr_dreads Games were definitely not cheaper back in the 90's or early 2000's. It's never been a cheaper time to be a gamer than it is now. I remember some SNES games like Super Mario Allstars costing £75 on release, with inflation taken into account that's over £100 today. NES games were £50, Megadrive games were £40 quid, N64 games were £60 and GameCube and Wii games were in the £40 to £60 price range too. On average, the pound/dollar price of games has remained pretty much the same since the NES era.
@Dr_dreads You're right, there's not been many games that cost £100 at the time they released, other than those that come with extra peripherals like Guitar Hero and Rock Band but when taking inflation into account, console games in the 80's/90's generally cost the equivelant of £60 to £100 in today's money. 64 games being especially expensive for the time.Same goes for consoles, the Atari 2600 launched in 1977 for $199,that's $770 with inflation. The $199 NES would cost the equivelant of $434 today.
Here's a good article on it. It's a few years old but still relevant.
@TwoDeePxls Yep, it was also because they published fewer copies. Another expensive one in Europe was Doom 64. Nothing more expensive than Super Smash Bros. 4 (physical or digital) and all the DLC though.
I most been living in the stone age. Games for me only costed £20 at most except Guitar Hero and those type of games.
But I get your guys point that some games have always been expensive and will always been expensive. But for me I feel like older games felt like it was more affordable to buy/
This. I don't like an old game because it is old anymore than I like a new game because it is new. I like games. It's a game by game basis, but the age of a game is only a very minor factor, if at all.
Though if a game is not available on a modern device and I have to jump through hoops to play it, that can certainly be a turn off. And for reasons even I don't understand, I tend to want to stick to one system at a time.
