I know there are a lot of people who despise J-pop out there, and I guess I can understand why; a lot of it is really girly and almost unnecessarily happy. I used to not like it, until I discovered Genki Rockets and recently I found Perfume and I've become obsessed with them. If you don't like J-pop, why not? And if you do, what kind of stuff do you like?
there is j-pop that isn't girly and overly happy? I didn't know that....
But yeah I'm not really into j pop though I do like some of it I've heard in games like dj max tehnica or in anime have been good. I also like Olivia (Lufkin) who actually has a fair range but does do j pop kinda stuff too.
I'll have to give a listen to the groups you mentioned. I'm quite open to music especially unique stuff though stuff like american pop bores and annoys me
I don't know about "wierd" but most of it is certainly different. Perfume is more "techno-pop" than stereotypical "J-pop" Here's one of my favorites at the moment [youtube:hU_ihQfjwn8] "Edge", "Chocolate Disco", "Linear Motor Girl", "Electro World" and "Secret Secret" are also really good ones
To an extent. My girlfriend is Japanese, and loves it, so I'm constantly exposed to it, but like manga and the kind of Japanese film that stays in Japan, it's something best taken in small doses for me.
Too freaking weird. The Japanese are a bunch of nutters.
Oh god, no. Can't stand it. Whenever it pops up in a videogame I jam on the buttons in a frantic matter trying to skip the scene humming over it as much as possible.

@bleachfan - i dont think thats j-pop, more j-rock i think.
@waluigi - id prefer to not understand the song than listen to bunch of sex slang and drug references in a lot of hip hop and rap stuff today.
and to answer the topic, i dont really have much exposure to j-pop, but i really like j-rock, mostly cuz of my fondness of anime and jrpgs. alot of it has some really good beats to it and gets you fired up, and i like that
i like malice mizer but i think they a j-goth pop metal though? idk... i used to like a lot of this kinda stuff in high school (about 5 years ago) when my nerdom was at its peak (wearing final fantasy shirts to school and stuff). im still a super nerd but i mellowed out of the worshiping every thing that is from japan. @fox you can not hate on teengeneate just because i posted a video of them doing a sh*tty punk as f*ck cover of the talking heads live in 1995 dude. look them up they rule. they are like the japanese ramones! i just think the video is rad because they rep subway hahha. i think the cover is rad too but i like fast garage punk. they are probably the raddest out of all the band i posted (except maybe sigh...sigh rules)
