How did you get your birds to breed?!?! I have had 4 parakeets, and all they do is wound each other. Seriously, one of them was getting older, and the girl (probably a good 5 years younger than him) pushed him off the perch and broke his leg. Then, over a week or two nursed him back to the point he could climb the ladder back to the perch... ONLY TO DO IT AGAIN! This went on for a few more months until his poor bird body couldn't take it anymore, an he passed away... now the bird we have left (the murderous one), chirps to herself and attacks the bird toy we gave her...

i'm apparently becoming a crazy cat lady as I have 2 cats of my own plus 3 strays that i've been feeding outside.

At least you aren't dealing with inter-species relationships, however mine are bloody. I've got a parakeet that's head over heels for a female cockatiel. But now my male Green Cheeked Conure (a green parrot the size of a cockatiel) seems to have won her over. Now the parakeet just chirps all day in jealousy. I guess that's what happens when one puts several birds into the same cage.

Here's the story with my birds: We had one male parakeet, so we bought what we thought was a female for him but it turned out it was a male too. They were alright, until we finally got a female. They would constantly try to kill each other over the female,m so we had to seperate them. The original first bird was left with the female, and the other male had to be left alone in a seperate cage. We placed a nest in the cage with the male & female and soon enough they had 3 babies, and as soon as those babies grew up, they had another 4! Now all 10 of them live together in one big cage, that includes the neglected other male. The 2 occasionally fought every few months or so, but lately things have been very calm.

I might be getting a Westie puppy...
