I have one, but I never used it. I can't be bothered to really update all those social networks. It's the same with Twitter, I don't get why people like posting on it like, every hour.
I use Twitter, but most of the time it's only during RAW or Impact so some of my wrestling buds and I can make fun of what's going on during the show and to send Dixie Carter (not the dead actress, the President of TNA) messages about how lame the show is and what they need to do to make it better (hint: Fire Russo, Hogan, Flair, Nash and Eric Young)
I am the one you despise. I am he who says what you really deep down know but are affraid to admit. I am the Anti-Fanboy, the crusader of truth in a world built on your lies.
For a long time I wasn't interested in it at all. But then after the DSi put a link so you could upload photos directly to it, I thought I'd give it a try. Now I find I actually enjoy. I even use my DSi as a quick way to check updates. But for me the reason for the whole online social network thing is probably a bit different than most people here. I live in the UK and all my family and old friend are back in the US, so it makes a nice easy way to keep up with my old buddies. If you talk to your friends and family regularly, Facebook would seem a waste of time.

I have one, but I only ever get on when I get an e-mail notification telling me I have a comment or a message...
"Don't make enemies, they'll stab your heart; don't make friends, they'll stab your back. Including me, including you, all men are trash. Don't love; don't be loved. Have nothing to do with other; live in isolation."
It's also great for self promotion, if you have something you need to promote.
I hate when people do that. It's always friends you haven't actually talked to in like 5 years who spam you everyday for something. No, I'm not going to give your broke-self money to do your stupid "80's across America" documentary; you're 35, and you're not going to be the next big Hollywood thing, sorry. I don't live in your city, so no I can't go to your concert. You would know that had you made any attempt to keep in touch with me after high school. I'm also not going to buy your CD; your music isn't good. Stop trying to leech me for money to pursue your pipe dreams.
I'm pretty much always on Facebook if I'm home. People who hate Facebook are missing the point, because they're probably not in college. it was made for people in college to stay in contact with their friends from high school, but now that it's open to everyone, it's become much more like MySpace in many ways, which is why it receives most of its criticism. It's very useful for someone like me, who has a lot of friends at different schools, and I like to know what's going on in their lives.
Yes, though like others here I avoided it for a long time. I had thought to use it for networking with former employers, but that turned out to be a bust. Instead I use it to share my recent photos with relatives (much easier to deal with than Flickr - especially with iPhoto since it's got a one-button Facebook upload API) and it's helped me participate in things like the Monster Hunter Tri preview event and hook up with old friends.
You do have to be vigilant about your privacy settings, not accept friend requests from every yahoo that sends you one (though I've only gotten a spam friend request once) and hide the Facebook game spam you inevitable get from Facebook friends who actually play the games; but I no longer regard it as a complete waste of time. It's certainly proven to be more useful than email for keeping in touch with a lot of people who I'm friends with and are just crap at writing.

Whoops, I don't remember seeing this. Did I accept you? If not, try again!
