Hmm. I'm not really sure what to think about that. A few things come to mind: 1. What is going to happen to the Marvel Theme Park in Universal Studios @ Orlando. 2. Will Wolverine, etc. show up in a Kingdom Heart's sequel (har har) 3. Will the Marvel Super Hero movies get suckier, better, what?
I haven't seen the details but my guess is the Marvel brand will only get stronger. I don't understand the Disney hate. While I don't see Marvel characters in KH's (and I hope not because that series is overrated), I can't imagine Marvel taking a hit because of this. I mean, Pixar has put out their best work when they are focused because of Disney. I mean, from what I know, the only thing Disney has forced Pixar into since the new deal was to make a new Toy Story and that's not even close to being a bad thing.
If anything, this gives Marvel an additional blanket of security when making high budgeted films. I foresee this partnership working a lot like Disney's deal with Touchstone and that's only worked out beneficial for Touchstone.
Well, this doesn't look good for some characters, like The Punisher. (Is he still around?)
From a movie standpoint, did it ever look good? From a comic standpoint, Disney won't interfere. Disney knows full well that he's printed under Marvel's MAX banner, and has found some success under that banner. They won't mess with that.
Plus, Disney does do 'R' rated movies...again under the Touchstone banner. Just because they were purchased by Disney doesn't mean this will really effect Marvel at all. It just gives them a lot more security when doing the movies. I thought Marvel going without a distributer in the first place was stupid.
Well, I can't see this working well. I wonder what will happen to the current cartoons of Marvel at the moment, Spectacular Spider-man and Wolverine and the X-men, I wonder if they'll be any changes.

Disney for the most part has been pretty good in allowing their "outside" acquisitions retain a fair amount of autonomy. In other words, this is a very good situation for Marvel -- though they've been strong in recent years due to their booming film business, their financial history through the years is hardly rocksolid -- and it's unlikley that Disney will force them to pull back on their more mature imprint titles (like Ennis's take on the Punisher or Millar's "Kick-Ass").
I hate Disney now. They ruin everything good. Movies(Disney movies used to be cool),Music(Jonas Brothers,Miley Cyrus,High School Musical)and now Marvel. I can see it now. They make a special edition of Spider Man that has Mickey Mouse in it,kind of like how they did that with Barack Obama.

As a business, you have to figure they had something worked out. The only unfortunate I see in this whole deal is Marvel's games falling under the Disney banner and being created by Disney...that could be...eh...but it's not like Disney is going to block the release of UA 2.
