But, considering everything that's gone down with a bunch of you over the past week or so, I guess I should be glad it's just time consuming and not inherently terrible.

Haha, I got a little chuckle out of that.

A very nasty lightning storm went through my neighborhood and struck one of the trees in my backyard. I even saw it happen. Damaged the main trunk pretty badly but I think it'll live. Wish I could say the same for a squirrel that took refuge in it during the storm, poor thing died instantly. /shakes head

But at least the chickens and property are safe, and the power didn't go out.

Avian fact of the week: The Moa, an extinct relative of ostrichs and emus that inhabited New Zealand, was the tallest bird that ever lived at 12 ft tall (3.6 m). It was also the only known bird to have no wing structure.

@Big-Luigi Sorry for your loss man, my grandmom died in February. I saw her as my mother. It still hasn't got through to me, I used to see her everyday when she was ill, I practically lived there...

This helps for me: I created a spot on my desk that is dedicated to her. It has stuff on it that stood in her house, things that I once bought her as a present, pictures,... I often just go through all the stuff, it makes me feel better :)

I think it's safe to say I'm officially depressed. My life seems to drag slower and deeper every passing day. If it weren't for my Christian faith in Jesus, there's no doubt in my mind that I would be having suicidal thoughts by this point.

The sad thing is, I really don't have anything to be sad about. I have a nice home, loving parents, a good upbringing, and everything I could want and more. If anything all those facts just make me feel even worse because then I think about how horrible I am to be upset while being surrounded by all these wonderful things. I've never felt this down and negative in my life, and it hurts, a lot...

You've done the right thing in sharing your thoughts with us. I'm saddened to hear that your Christian beliefs haven't completely succeeded (as yet) in raising your spirits. No matter what you believe there should always be a boat of positive feelings and activities in which you can sail through stormy times.
...Kind of a vague notion though.
As someone with a similar religious background, I can say that faith itself can help you escape your troubles. Further expansion into your notion of Christianity could uncover helpful thoughts and words to aid in all aspects of your current malaise.

@WingedFish: Whoa... For real....? Man.... Well I really do hope that you find the positives that your looking forward to. I may sound too religious here, but: Just keep praying that God will guide you through your troubles and that you may find what he wants to do in your life. Just don't lose faith, he's always there to help. You too will be in my prayers.

If everything is fine in your life and you are seriously depressed it could be an issue of neurotransmitter activity. If you haven't already, you should see a doctor and see about antidepressant medication.

Saying 'we've all been there' is nice and comforting, but it makes it sound like it is perfectly natural when there could be something wrong biologically. His depression sounds a lot more in the serious minority, rather than the large majority of 'depressed' people who are upset because gas rose 3 cents a gallon.

Edit: Also if you are taking medications for other problems, they may be inducing these feelings. But this probably isn't where you want to discuss your medications and whatnot. lol. So go see a doctor.

@WingedFish Hope things get better soon. This may not help much, but maybe be sure to get plenty of sleep? I'm sleep deprived, and I feel a bit depressed when I don't get a good-night's sleep.

hey guys, i think we can all agree that none of us are doctors, and if anyone here (including WingedFish) are having abnormal thoughts and/or feelings, it's best to tell your doctor IRL instead of consulting a random NL user, right? so let's please refrain from giving medical-type advice and instead offer support or perhaps a friendly ear if you're so inclined. thanks in advance, everyone! :3

Hey everyone, just wanted to give an update. I've done some evaluation of myself and of real depression signs, and realized that I don't have what I guess you can call true depression. In other words, no need to see a doctor.

However, as mentioned before I'm still feeling very low emotionally, but @FOREST_RANGER did bring up something I didn't think of. My sleeping habits are incredibly unbalanced, so that likely plays some part.

Finally I just want to thank you all for your loving support. This community is the most friendly place I've ever seen, and I'm pleased to have met you all. In fact, I believe things are going to start looking up for me in the coming weeks. Don't know how or what, but I can just feel it. Thanks again guys, you're the best. :)
