Topic: Dexter's Rude Removal

Anyone who watched (and liked) Dexter's Laboratory, if you have yet to watch this do so now. People have been waiting for this banned episode for over a decade.

My brother showed me this yesterday! I seriously thought this wasn't real for a bit.
That was hilaaaaaruous! Man I loved this show. I never had any idea there was a banned episode like. That was surprising.

I hadn't seen that show in ages, thank you for sharing that. I love the fact the the rudeness removal system made them english.

Censorship was larger back then. Now people can agree Regular could have been an Adult Swim show, however its Cartoon Network's daytime programming.
However this what were they thinking?

Regular Show would've tied with early Space Ghost for the tamest [adult swim] show. And the worst in terms of adult content would be those ATROCIOUS canadian imports. Seriously, only time I've ever seen the phrase "ass man" said at 4 PM on a children's network.

Also considering Powerpuff Girls got away with "Curses" and a lot of shows featured some pretty risque sex jokes (Ed Edd n Eddy, Billy & Mandy, etc;), I'm pretty sure this just overfilled the barrier since the sentences were easily decipherable.

Also, if midnight doesn't count as watershed, we got this from 1994 until 2001 (when it moved to Adult Swim)

I actually believe this was never even meant to ever air originally. It was just supposed to be an inside joke for the series' creators to have a laugh over. (I could be wrong though)

However, Genndy Tartakovsky recently said (on an AMA) that it WAS meant to air, but the network thought it was too harsh, and more appropriate for [adult swim].

Considering how much money making this would've cost I'm willing to believe the 2nd one is true.

Yeah creator usually do this a lot making adult based storyboards this just father in the process. If you search you can find a very distributing storyboard the creators of rugrats did.

Storyboards is probably saving about, let's see, 239 pictures every 10 seconds. Plus if the creator said it was intended for air, I'll believe that.

Although you are right about how much creators do this. It was done extensively on Animaniacs and The Weird Al Show, and Regular Show often needs a lot of censorship. Even Ed Edd n Eddy was forced to cut out the word "gonads" while Billy and Mandy somehow got away with "menopause"

They used seahorses. Also it was a lot more innocent then this one considering they were using it out of naivete, not malice.

@Hokori I suppose so, but it was still pretty innocent on Spongebob. You couldn't tell what they were actually saying. That's shown pretty easily in how the fog-horn sound was actually apparently a curse word when Old-man Jenkins showed up in his jalopy. To kids, they'd think the cursing was the actual sounds they heard.

With this, however, you can tell what they're saying. F-bombs, s-bombs, the like. I completely approve of the banning, that was really intense.

Regular Show mentions several inappropriate stuff. However I think they simmered it down a bit.
Before they would say "Crap" and stuff like that. However they still do some strange stuff, including Benson (One of the main characters) having what would believe to be an erection on one episode. Another episode it was believed they were looking at pornography (only to turn out to be a car magazine) another time they said "How the H are we going to fix this S"

I also heard just like Video Games, Austrailia's Cartoon Network censors plenty of more things. In fact Austrailia will censor some kissing scenes in Adventure Time. Yes, Kissing.

Most cartoon shows in the late 90s and early 2000s used humor that TV shows now won't accept for viewer standards.

In shows such as Johnny Bravo, Power Puff Girls, Ed Edd 'n Eddy and Spongebob, the jokes are more sexual in that nature, whereas harsh language was prohibited. Nowadays those standards are reversed with sexual jokes prohibited and certain slur words are allowed such as **s, crap and d*mn.

There are some sexual themes found in Adventure Time and some swearing in Power Puff Girls (yes, they said qu**r), but not as common as their counterparts.

I love Regular Show and I've noticed a lot of bad stuff, especially Muscle Mans "My mom jokes" one episode he said "you know who else likes "special" entertainment like this?... My Mom"

Oh let's not forget about Rocko! That show was great innuendo
"oh baby oh baby oh baby"

I totally forgot about the "Special Entertainment" that was both strange and funny.
