I saw threads about Nintendo games having dark stuff in them and its kinda true that some of their games are dark like Majora's Mask for example.
This thread here is to mention some of the Nintendo dark games that you experienced and how your experience of them was compared to the happy Nintendo that we're so used to.
I'll start by saying that Thousand Year Door.....really got me deep seeing toads being eaten, death ACTUALLY mentioned in a MARIO game of all and to top it off, you get to see peach naked...well technically, she's invisible but still......a bit odd.
Then of course there's Majora's Mask. I'll be honest......looking at the moon alone will frighten the hell out of you. Every single person feels depressed and isn't the Zelda that I'm used to. Now I didn't like the game that much but I admire what it was trying to do.
I'll 2nd Eternal Darkness (it even has dark in the name!) but will also mention Mario Part 8 which no lie was so controversial it had to recalled in the UK for making fun of the mentally handicapped/uses the word spastic.
Wii Sports, the darkest Nintendo game ever closely followed by Wii Fit and Brain Training!
those games keep attacking you personally. Calling you overweight, telling you your "Brain Age" is super old. I don't know of many other games that attack you on such a personal level. Dark games indeed.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Surprised nobody mentioned any Metroid game yet. Fusion? I was really scared watching my brother play that game because of SA-X...
The Curious Village is surprisingly... dark as well.
God first.

Ya think Thousand Year Door's dark? Because Super Paper Mario would like to have a word with you...also, Peach being naked isn't exactly dark, but...risque. Also, Mother 3. The trauma poor Lucas has to go through is astounding.
There is nothing here...except for the stuff I just typed...

Agreed 100%. (Spoilers ahead!) Flora had the option to completely terminate everyone in the village if she were to take the treasure. While they were androids, they were so lifelike (and, I would argue, possibly sentient) that it would have seemed like they were being murdered for personal gain.
Fusion was also freaky, with that crazy SA-X running around. What was also disturbing was the lengths that the Galactic Federation were going to in that game to breed the Metroid for their own purposes, and were even willing to quarantine instead of destroy the highly dangerous SA-X in order to use it as a biological weapon.
Currently playing: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr's Journey, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana (Switch)
This blue eye perceives all things conjoined. The past, the future, and the present. Everything flows and all is connected. This eye is not merely seen reality. It is touching the truth. Open the eye of truth... There is nothing to fear.
@Luna_110 Id forgotten FE 4, totally agree, darkest thing I can think of in any Fire Emblem. Although having to sacrifice a unit in Shadow Dragon to certain doom is dark too. Having to choose who dies.
Actually, the part in Radiant Dawn where you're in the river at night made me feel awful, without giving it away, because I forgot how to hide spoilers, but I've never felt like that in any other game.

@NintendoFan64 I will agree that Super Paper Mario is dark....but nowhere as dark as thousand year door. The computer has an obsession with peach, toads and people being eaten, anti villain being killed etc.
Super Paper Mario? I never found it as dark as thousand year door simply because it doesn't show the amount of content that thousand year door had, unless you can recollect my memories of how its darker than year door....
@Vee_Flames oh yeah....i totally forgot about that...haha.
@Socar Let's see...Super dealt with the apocalypse, had you explore a world after being destroyed and reduced to nothing, explore Hell, and had a villain who did everything out of grief after losing a loved one. Oh, and also this:
