You must be talking about King K. Rool and his many false disguises. In part 2 he disguised himself as Kaptain K. Rool and in part 3 he was Baron K. Roolenstein. Like him you are a master of disguise and he even claimed to be King K Rool's brother just like you claim to be King DeDeDe's brother!

By obscure I mean the example isn't necessarily the first thing that occurs to you when think of the game. It's a reference to a specific incident in the game.

I was googling "donkey kong jape" and the first thing I clicked on was urban dictionary.

Forget the 'jape' part. Focus on 'glasses' and DKC3.

... perhaps it is a nod to your fellow fine feathered friend, the Karbine? though they carry cannons, and not giant mallets.

I've been impressed with the inventive answers so far.

CowLaunch forgot to mention that if nobody guesses it by midnight, I get the game.

I think the squares on your glasses look like the squares of the letters you pick up. That's just my observation.

I did forget that, maybe I was drunk when I made that promise...

You either beat or are beaten by Cranky in Swanky's tent, and he puts on glasses and says a line similar to yours in an attempt to defend himself, right? I THINK it was something like that...I definitely remember Cranky putting them on, at the VERY least. Or he already had them on (which is probable) and made a comment about them, one of those.

This reference is to the scene you see after you beat Baron K. Roolenstein and rescue Donkey and Diddy Kong. They have a conversation and Diddy Kong tells Donkey Kong that he should give thanks to Dixie for her performance for saving them, saying even Kranky would be impressed, then Kranky walks in and says "No, not really." Then both Dixie and Kiddy leave through opposite sides of the screen to team up on Kranky, who then proceeds to put on his glasses and says" you wouldn't hit a guy with glasses now, would you?". Is this correct?
