Gee let's see...
1) Unlike on PSN, buying games on Wii/DSiware + Virtual Console is a bad idea. Why? Because Nintendo binds them to a solitary system. If your system breaks, other than paying the high repair fee NOA sets, you'll lose those 10s, 100s...whatever in dollars you put into it. Why? Because games are incompetently by them tied to that broken system, so if you run out to replace it in some fashion kiss all your games you bought adios unlike PSN where you can just login+download again.

2) The Wii sold itself as a motion controller that copied all your movements. The E3 before it was out stuff like Red Steel was lagged, but they claimed it was early and when done you'd get 1:1 or damn near it. Yeah, that didn't happen until Motion Plus -- liars, thanks for that marketing spin on the level of bs msnbc spews.

3) Stupidly sold both their systems (Wii primarily) as an everyman system and in such marketed it to the point of offending their base, twisting off the third parties, and helping along with (still) primarily third party jerkiness damning the system to being primarily a third party dumpster bin of B-grade goods and crap like 97% of the time.

4) Not sure it applies to DSiware for most, but the Wii is grossly undersized in the storage department causing a lot of games it would run and would likely sell the most copies for the system off it due to the 40MB size limit due to the crappy 512MB of storage.

5) Changing the seal right down to the lettering, as it used to be called the 'Official Seal of Quality' and well of Quality was dropped for 'Official Seal of Nintendo.' We've seen what has come of that from shovelware to overly valid developer whining that the 'no minimum test' value they have now put so much bs on the shelves as such low prices it keeps the good stuff from selling as it tends to cost more, so know nothings and gifters buy the cheap one with the badass box.

6) Friend Codes -- Offensive to no end. Ever heard of Parental Lock idiots? That alone has kept a lot of games off the system that has gone to other systems because people don't want to deal with it, while others like EA said suck it or we walk and used the good EA Lobby instead (MOH Heroes 2.)

7) Ignoring the virtual console both with lack of releases over the 'ware' stuff, and outright not having the portable equivalent with GB/C, SMS, Lynx, NGPC stuff they could have there now.

I could keep going and get into games, but I'm sure people will hit on being ignorant as crap about Mother1 and 3 (Earthbound was Mother 2), Doshin the Giant even put into english for europe but not localized, etc.

Nintendo needs a much better online service [especially for their handhelds, hopefully the 3DS will have 3G]. Both WiiWare and DSiWare have WAY too much shovelware, which is why Nintendo needs to put some quality control on all downloadable games. Also, I am getting tired of sending my Wii in for repairs because of a horrible disc drive. So please Nintendo, improve the disc drive for your future consoles.

Geez, now I don't have to post my rant, you already posted it for me.

I'll never understand why Nintendo decided against having online profiles and decided to tie downloads to a the consoles. Honestly, it seems so short sighted, and will only lead to more problems as Nintendo readies its successor. The friend codes also seem to hurt more than help, ruining what could've been great online experiences. And don't even get me started on that dinky flash drive. I've got a 3 year old cheap flash drive that has more memory than that thing. That, combined with the size limit seem to be really hurting both VC and Wiiware. All in all, the whole development of the console seems to have been misguided and short sighted. Its a real damn shame.

The motion controls in particular pissed me off, or the lack there of, to be quite honest. I still haven't bought a Wii Motion+ because I don't want to spend $40 to make my controller work the way its supposed to, especially since the thing has gotten so little support thus far.

And ultimately, I think Ninty's biggest downfall has been trying to please everyone, since, just like in the old saying, they've succeeded in pleasing no one.

Virtual Console Sales and better pricing.

OOT and Pokemon Puzzle League both cost 1000? I think PPL should cost a little less.

Mickey you're welcome. Everyone was tap dancing or denying around most the real issues with the system, and as much as I have enjoyed it at least 1/2 the time since it has been out, it's been one big screw up covered safely (temporarily) by the fickle 'non-gamer' market who got it as their next trendy iPodwhatever thing everyone has to have. If they hadn't went for the everyman market and got away with it, they'd be finished as console developers on their own hardware at the worst, severely crippled and more or less third party-less going forward. That said though they're so damn good as hand held makers they'd just run full gauntlet out on that if need be.

The fact they have that setup with the bind to X system only setup stopped me from buying one more WiiWare, VC, or DSiWare game since I learned of it before the DSi was out as they changed the TOS back then for non-transferability and it made me furious. Anything I've picked up since then I got with free 500pt cards from contests, store screw ups, or whatever. I'd see spending upwards of $50 right now on games if not closer to 100 if they'd get their head out of their on that thing. I know I'm not the only one and neither are you.

I have a lot of complaints, but I guess every successful company has to have it's faults.

It NA's pleas for Japanese exclusives like Mother and Mother 3, and instead shovels our Wii Shop full of worthless WiiWare. It pimps out most of it's series, forcing them into disgrace. They pay more attention to casual gamers. They release a new DS every time I turn my head. They come out with a new add-on to a console right after it's debut, thus making me shell out more money to play a game better. They don't use hard-drives.

And yet, none of these complaints give me more fury than thinking of Microsoft.

The biggest problems for me are the lame friend codes, overpriced VC games, and the minor lack of N64 games on the VC.

Sloooooow localization. I don't even care about Mother 3, I just want Zangeki no Reginliev, which ain't happening any time soon.

I actually agree, but I think this generation they didn't have a choice. I consider the Wii Nintendo's "Hail Mary Pass". They knew that they just couldn't compete with the PS3 and 360 after what happened with the Gamecube, so they had to do something radically different to stay relevant, and that included tapping into the casual market and developing a less powerful console. Luckily for Nintendo, their gamble paid off, but now that they are back on top I hope with their next system they will listen to the complaints of their fans and make it a better console than the Wii.

They've pleased no one? Give me a break. I have my complaints like anyone, but overall I'm quite pleased, and sales indicate I'm not alone.

I have almost all my favorite games on one console. We will soon have at least two entries in Nintendo's biggest franchises on their home console (two 3D Marios, two Zeldas, and two Metroids), something we've never seen before, even if Twilight Princess cheated a bit. And we will even sooner have a ton of side-scrolling platformers, more than any console has seen since the SNES, I'd wager, three of which are co-op.

Oh, and Lucas is in Brawl.

Sure the hardware sales are excellent but let's get into game attach rate then you got to start wondering just how bad it really is with the low % of game vs hardware sales. I don't recall what it was last, but let's say that the Wii when it was at 50M, PS3 at 10M and 360 was at 12M units sold each moved 3 games per hardware unit. Would you be proud of the fact with 50M people you can't get more than 3 games sold yet you got hundreds on the market? How about 3 per unit with 10M out there or 12M units? As system sales increase, the attach rate needs to as well or you are just a flash in the pan failure that can live off hardware sales and nothing to back it up much later and sadly Wii has been kind of like that far more than the other guys.

Mickeymac please email me at temple dot of dot doom@gmail... please we need to talk. Shame there's no PM's here like a normal board.

You can't complain about something you don't have. You haven't even seen the magazine reader yet the Movie thing (hopefully with the help of Netflix) and the 3D and the graffix. But you can complain about the wide screen thing. Unless Nintendo has an idea to just slide the wide screen.
