Topic: Changing The Face Of this Disposable Gaming Generation

One of the first things you think of when someone says Nintendo (besides Mario) is Pokemon. As one of the company's top sellers, it pretty much dominated the handheld gaming industry. A comprehensive, elaborate line of RPG's which left much work to be done beyond the main storyline. however, now there is a new forefront, the era of smartphones and therefore, disposable games. Now fewer and fewer people have the time or patience to finish whole detailed games. they'd much rather download a game, play it a few days, and then delete it. this habit is going to ruin the gaming industry. Unless, a company can stop and reform this trend before it builds anymore steam. I believe, with the help of pokemon, Nintendo can be the company to change this. But it Has to be done right. For The Rest of this forum slot, i am going to break down my idea into a series of parts if you will.

Part 1 -General idea

A New breed of the pokemon franchise. one that for all intensive purposes, would bring pokemon to life in the real world. Am i crazy? no. Brilliant? yes.
In short, this new breed of game would be on every app store. it would combine every region. make each person their very own trainer with their own adventure to carve out. They'd do things their own way, beat trainers, form gyms, make trades, even establish a league. how is this all possible? well the next parts will explain in detail, so listen close ^_^.

Part 2- Regions

When most of you read regions you probably thought, all the regions on one rpg? that confusing messy and all but eliminates trading! well your correct, but wrong. I'm not proposing another game in the line of dependable games. remember, i said a new breed of game.

As i mentioned before, this idea in game form would bring the dream of many to the forefront, the dream of bringing pokemon alive to the world.
therefore, in a bold move, This 'game' would use location services to establish each region to a corresponding area in the real world!
For instance, Kanto, the start of the pokemon empire, would be japan and therefore, its corresponding area.
The entire world would be broken up into the 6 regions we know of today. and if we are lucky one region per continent as i am sure there is another in the works. So how would this work? well in each region a trainer would capture its unique region pokemon and train his or her team, trading via wi fi around the world to get the ones from other regions. just think, in each region millions of fans would scramble to become the best battling face to face and over wifi trying to top the leaderboard. fans would establish tourneys and gyms. the demand would be huge for prize or event pokemon opening a new market for nintendo to exploit. Nintendo each year could have a tournament with top trainers from each region earning a legendary of their choice from their home region making it more like real life because in the pokemon world for example there is only one rayquaza. if the top trainer loses in the tournament the next year. he must relinquish that legendary till next time. to take it a step farther in your region, again using location services, pokemon would broken up around the region. Water pokemon by lakes and ponds and rivers, forest pokemon being in parks and wooded areas. normal types, your radicates your ekans grimer muk weezing and so on in cities and such. this would create a trading culture in your own area as well. when the apps running, you will have wild encounters, just like regular pokemon. each person would pick from the normal choice of starters from their region. they would have three pokecenter tokens to place at locations to rest their pokemon poke centers could also be gaming companies who pay nintendo to become one.

Part 3- Adventure

traditional Pokemon consists of picking a starter, then setting off to conquer gyms beat the league and complete the dex... yawwwn... i love the storyline as much as the next, but its time to shake the world of gaming on the go. in my proposal, once you go through the tutorial. you're free to carve out your own path. the world is now your game. its up to you, you wanna travel you can travel, you wanna be the best on your street, in your city, state, country?!?!? then you can be. Its up to the public with Nintendos help, to make gyms and leagues to challenge. we already do it on forums for the classic games.

Part4- Pokemon care
oh Charmander, your low on HP? ( Max Potion)
paralyzed? (PARALYZ HEAL)
burned? your a fire type?!?!? (lava cookie) (shaking my head charmander gets burned -_-)
this and your occasional trip to nurse Joy, were all the caring you really needed to do.
Well, this is the real world in pokemon form now! You, will have six pokemon on your person like normal. but each pokemon must be fed, groomed, played with, it won't just be exp, that matters anymore . there will be 'top breeders' They will be the ones with the healthiest pokemon.and the healthier they are the stronger they are in battle. Don't worry you'll still have those items in a pinch. wild pokemon will drop them if you make them faint, you can buy them with credits you earn from beating trainers, or find them at random as you walk about your daily life.

Part5- profit
bottom line, companies need to make money. well this game is a cash cow that will never get old. the purchase price will be like that of any other pokemon game 35-50 dollars. in app purchases will be for exclusive gear. tournament admission fees. special event admission fees. and with each new string of pokemon to be released into the world. the game would never get old. a safari zone of sorts would be available. you can get a 6 hour pass for 99 cents. And just imagine the tons of stores that would want to be pokecenter locations, pokemarts, gyms, breeders, and special event locations!!! there is a lot of money to be made, in just monthly fees alone. And to reiterate, this game will never get old. consider, all those handhelds, just practice to form a generation of pokemon trainers, ready to take on the world of pokemon no matter where they go!

Part6- this is my conclusion.

addressing battling briefly. same as normal you are provided 5 pokeballs and your start pokemon.
there will be no more in game daycares, people will probably start their own where you'll trade your pokemon for them to train in exchange for in game or real life currency. but thats up to the people. i prefer to train my own.
trading a pokemon will decrease its happiness for a while until it grows.
after completing your regions pokedex you will receive a master ball. (the dex completion will not be dependant on legendaries.
evolution stones can be found or purchased. but beware, forcing your pokemon to evolve before it feels ready will make its training harder, not easier.
there will be an array of berries and pokemon foods that you can make or trade for. every pokemon will have a favorite.
there will still be competitions to enter your pokemon in that are non battle orientated.
every pokemon will be unique no one will be the same. starters will not be encountered in the wild. if a pokemon is released, it will be in your area. meaning yes yo can capture someones released pokemon.
if there are any questions, feel free to ask. this is actually only a brief overview of my idea.

So basically the way you propose to save the entire gaming industry from certain death is to release a $40 Pokémon game on iPhone with a ton of additional microtransactions.

Before you start telling Pokemon how to make their game, someone should tell you how to play the game.

Lacking the time and patience to finish big games is neither new nor a problem that should be fixed. Quick fix gaming hasn't ruined the industry before (e.g. with free browser games) and it won't now.

You're presenting a problem that doesn't really exist as you describe it and proposing a solution that doesn't even address that problem.

Basically, you want this because you want it. It doesn't have anything to do with the industry's status.

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

I expected a talk about retail games that will be rendered bricked once they get the plug pulled off.

I'm really disappointed.

lol my bad on the poison thing i def know how to play the game im the neoleague ghost gym leader also the only app purchases are for special items because companies still need to make money . and satoru iwata said it himself, disposable games are destroying the gaming industry. when people would rather download a game play it and delete they are less likely to buy more in depth games . so companies like nintendo, who's suffering thanks to the play it and throw it away gamers. need to make some sort of push in the other direction. so a game like the one ipropose . bringing pokemon more into the real world then previously thought possible. people will make that 50$ purchase and keep the game.

alsoif you read part 5 there a very few micro transactions .

ALSO the solution does solve the problem, a game like that would command attention and top the app store

i mean lets face it the day of console gaming is done. in a year the wii u will only be good for netflix and brawl. with the occasional mario players.
and nintendo cant even come out with a decent emulator to the mobile marketplace.

my idea works its a game that will engage the player and keep changing because the plot is literally what you make it. it'll never get old or boring. it'd put nintendo on top of the gaming world once again

That's not true. There will always be a market for console gaming. Look at the console vs. PC issue from before mobile gaming even existed. PCs could and still can produce better graphics and larger worlds than consoles, yet consoles stayed alive. Actually, their sales increased. So no, the console market will never die.

most consoles barely survived. its was the fps that saved them. pcs cant make a good fps without lagg. microsoft's release of halo kept it alive for instance . by partnering with bungie they jumped from pc gaming to console quickly. nintendo knows better than anyone handheld games can crushconsoles. look at what happened to sony when the gameboy got released . and you don't hear a peep from sega.

No it doesn't. At all. You're asking Nintendo to make Pokemon incredibly complicated for anyone who doesn't have the attention span to do such things. Nintendo purposely made Pokemon simple because of the audience it is aimed at. Also, do you have any idea how long this would take to develop and how big the game is? There is literally NO logical business model that fits in this mess of a game you created.

Going back to your original point, how does THIS help those people with short attention spans? You're asking them to play for hours just to get to the first gym. Does that not defeat the whole purpose of said idea?

You're also asking Nintendo to charge for tournaments? Really? Why even bother when gamers can do it for free in Pokemon X and Y?

Nintendo does NOT need to complicate Pokemon. The series was never meant to be too complicated (aside from IV/EV, but even those were simplified in X and Y). In conclusion, this is an awful idea that will not work.

Edit: You are literally making no sense at this point. PC can't do FPS? FPS saved consoles? Look at what happened to Sony when Gameboy was released? Bungie going toconsole wasbecause consoleis betterand not Microsoft saying 'we bought you and now we need this huge game to make our console a success'? What?
