Hey. One of my good friends just got a wii for the first time. he's been a hardcore gamer all of his life and loves things like bioshock, fallout, dead space, mass effect... i could keep going but you get the idea. shooters, rpgs, the kinds of things core gamers play. here's the thing, though. in additon to metroid prime trilogy, and no more heroes, and other hardcore wii games, he also wants to get some things he and his fiance can enjoy together. she likes mario kart, rayman raving rabbids, things like that. anyone have any other suggestions i can give him for those kinds of games that kinda border the casual/hardcore genres? stuff that both types can enjoy, especially together? thanks!

Hate to keep beating the RE4 drum, but it's just that good. They can dim the lights and play it through like the interactive survival/horror movie it is, and enjoy the scares together.
Sports Resort is a no-brainer if they enjoyed Wii Sports at all, and perhaps even if they didn't... If she likes the dancing games in Rabbids, then WiiWare's Helix should entertain. And while not head-to-head, Groovin' Blocks is a great music & rhythm-based Tetris-style puzzler. WiiWare NEVES Plus offers good two-player shape puzzle solving, too.
There are obviously plenty more, but these came to mind without much effort.
oh, yeah, man, i know. Resi 4 is amazing. i'll definitely recommend that one to him... but that's not her kind of thing. Sports resort is good one, yeah. but i don't know any of those wiiware titles... anything else that's not necessarily a casual game, but can be enjoyed by both crowds?

Boom Blox is fantastic, and can be enjoyed by anyone ( I have the same setup with me and my girlfriend). I've heard the sequel is even better. It builds to a really steep dificulty and has a lot of really fun vs./ multiplayer challenges. The no-brainer is Tetris Party, too, I play that all the time with my girlfriend, and it stays fun if you're both good. Boom Blox sounds like what you need, though. Theres a shooting/ throwing element to it, but also a puzzle element and lots of competition. I've heard water Warfare is really fun too. Try the Bomberman games with lots of players, thats always fun. My girlfriend and I got into the guitar hero stuff for a while, thats pretty fun for 2, and even mario party 8 is good. You can't really have your cake and eat it too, though. Sounds like your friend knows that. He'll just have to live with some less bloody games and try some more relaxed stuff.
Yeah Animal Crossing, my wife finished paying off her house before me, lol. Mario & Sonice at the Winter Olympic Games, looks like a good one and Super Mario Bros Wii too.
Allow me to second the nomination for Dokapon Kingdom. I'm playing it with a group of friends (whenever we manage to get together that is) and it's really fantastic. Quirky enough to keep you interested, but the core game is pretty solid as well. A nice balance of sincerity and oddity.
alright. thanks, guys! can't think of any other site that wouldn't just say, "why are you asking us? go look up reviews, man." thanks for saving me time! and good suggestions. stuff i probably wouldn't have come up with on my own.

I definatley like dokapon myself. got it fairly recently. The computer players started kicking my but in single mode, so I went darkside on them. Pretty sweet thing about this game is if you're behind everyone, you can make a deal for lots of power to get even and catch up to other players.
I don't know if you just grouped Smash Bros. Brawl in with the "other hardcore games" he bought, but they should definitely try that! It's definitely one of those games that Nintendo designed to be enjoyable to everyone, and I think they did a great job!
Also...Mario Power Tennis. Maybe Zack & Wiki, if you think they'd like to use the "helper" mode and figure out the puzzles together. Excitebots, maybe? Plenty of options, obviously. And I haven't even bothered to suggest any downloadable games!
My Backloggery Updated sporadically. Got my important online ID's on there, anyway. :P
I've not actually played it yet since I live in the UK (roll on October!!) but I reckon Ghostbusters will be a good bet. It's supposed to be pretty hardcore in that it's faithful to the movies with lots of little references but you can also play through the full game in 2-player split screen mode. It's supposed to be a lot of fun and I'm sure she'll enjoy it too - most women seem to love Ghostbusters.
good suggestions. i like the animal crossing and little king's story ideas. maybe smash bros. i know he likes it, but i don't think it's her thing. zak and wiki was one i mentioned to him and am letting him borrow my copy. ghostbusters? hm... i could see that. has anybody played it? i hear mixed things...
