Do you really want me to critique your poetry, tendoboy?
No, because I know you don't like rhythmic poetry. You just told me yourself.
I'm just stating that I appreciate classic poetry from the likes of Poe, Hemingway, Shakespeare, etc.
So do I. But they're all dead. Literature has moved on. Poetry is not about stuffy rules these days, and forcing stuff to rhyme.
Then why are songs still written in rhythmic patterns? If rhyming is dead, then so be it.
Song lyrics are a different art to poetry?
I'm a published poet, when I'm not copy pasting from wikipedia. I'm not Prince.
Though that would be awesome.
I know about classic poetry. Read some Edgar Allen Poe and come back to me.
You're not Edgar Allan Poe.
A song is just poetry that is sung to music.
And poetry is not a song that lacks the music. Just as the novel and the film, and even video games have evolved over the years, poetry has too.
For the better. Modern poets must love not having to use words like "aflame" to make silly rules work. I can't speak for the rest of them, but I sure as hell do.
Maybe I am not artistic in the ways of words but most of Waltz stuff just sounds like articles split into sections (no offense) just how I see it. But in the end Poetry is still an expression, so I don't think there are any specific rules behind it, involving structure and rhythm. As I said I am not poetic.
Though really everyone here should just stay on track. There's nothing more that I hate, when there's a good thread going on, and one person comes in and posts their "lul I'm funny" response and then this train wrecks the whole thread into a pit of randomness and chaos.
Carry on youngsters.
THANK YOU! You saved the day. Now, can we PLEASE get back on topic?
Post your poetry here. Whatever the style, whatever the rhythmic structure. I will accept all submissions.
There is no structure, just a bunch of sentences broken up randomly.
i'm sorry, have you read any modern poetry? lol... you wanted it, now you've got it. sorry that not everyone else's tastes coincide with your own, but that doesn't make their work any less 'poetry' than the ones you're posting :3
