I always play them at least once for an hour or so as soon as I get them, but I have a fair number of games that I've only played once and then never touched again, because usually I'd rather just play Tetris. I do try to keep track now of games I want to buy, but unless it's something I'm dying to have I won't buy a new game until I've completed another one to make sure I don't end up with a stack of barely-played games.

the thing with me is that all of my games are out of the shrinkwrap, and i've played them at least once. I's just that i never took the time to beat them which it pretty sad if you ask me! (the only exception to that is wii fit plus, which i only took out of the box to get coins on club nintendo)

My ultimate "bought, haven't played" game has been (the first) Mass Effect. Bought it when it first came out, along with (the first) Assassin's Creed and (the first) Bioshock. I played through the other two first, and didn't get to ME. Finally started playing ME some months later, but only got through the first planet missions or so before getting distracted by other games, Then my friend borrowed it and essentially appropriated it for a year or so.

I finally have it back, but still have so many other games to play that i haven't gotten into it. Keep in mind that i loved KotR and and a big fan of the game's creative staff (Karpyshyn is a solid sci-fi writer), so there's nothing really keeping me away. And here we are, over 2 years after release and it still sits, barely played by me (but played like mad by my friend), in my stack of 360 games. It's like a running gag now with my friend and I, where i constantly say "one day, i'm gonna play it" and he just laughs and shakes his head. =)

I've got a huge backlog of games to go back and play. My problem is that once a game hits $10, it becomes an impulse purchase and I don't think twice about buying it... lately there have been a lot Wii games that fit that criteria! It's not a bad problem to have though, as long as you expect to get around to the games eventually. I'm pretty sure that all of mine will get played over time - so why not pick them up when I've got the opportunity? They aren't going to get much cheaper...

Hmmm....Even though I have a lot of games I still need to beat, I can't imagine buying a game and not even opening it! Whenever I get a new game, I get pretty excited and play it a fair amount.
...Then I get distracted and start doing something else...

I'm working on a game that's coming out soon!

I was going to challenge myself to not buy any games for the year until I completed a sizeable chunk of my library. I was doomed, since the release date for some games I really wanted (and didn't want to miss, fearing lazy distribution we sometimes get in the UK) was nearing, and then of course I underestimated the pull Monster Hunter 3 has on me.

Honestly - if I had never bought MH3, I estimate i'd have completed 4 or 5 by now.

On the bright side, I recently bought No More Heroes 2 and finished it in about 3 days (I've yet to "complete" it - that is, unlock everything), and even if I don't initially play a game I buy as much as I should, generally I get round to it.

I kind of forgot about Wario Land: Shake it!. Loved the game, I just never want to play it anymore. I think I was somewhere near the middle of the game when I stopped.

Beep.
That is all.

I think the same exact thing. If your gonna buy a game, you might as well get your moneys worth by playing it.

This, lol. I've played nearly every game I own to death. Quite literally to death in the case of some Gamecube games. Metroid Prime 2 won't boot anymore, the disk is buggered.
I don't have as much time to play them nowadays, but that just means I buy less games in the first place.

That's my philosophy. If I see something good real cheap, I buy it. When I'm interested in playing something different, I've always got five to seven new games waiting from which to choose. Unless it's a major franchise, I generally don't feel the need to purchase it right away at full price.

I USED to play and replay every game I bought...back when I only had Gameboy games to buy and it took a month and a half to save up enough allowance to buy one. When I got a job, though, I unlocked my impulse purachasing potential.

Same here. I have quite a few games that I've only played a couple of times (Henry Hatsworth, Polarium, House of the Dead: Overkill, LittleBigPlanet) because the allure of games like Picross DS and AlphaBounce is just too great to resist. I have an even worse problem with playing games almost all of the way through then just stopping for no apparent reason (Chrono Trigger DS, X-Scape). It's kind of like I want to finish the game, but I don't want to at the same time. It's baffling.

Exactly.

Had it and couldn't stand the weird mix of being too easy and some of the added things being so aggravatingly 1 sec of error worth of hard I just stopped too. A good share of games over the years I've loved but ended up hitting the shelf and I don't return to them almost every time (Ocarina of Time was an exception like 18mo later as I was no fan of it.) Honestly these days as it's not in mommy's house and deeper pockets if I find I do that with a game, it ends up taunting me looking at the binding on the shelf so I tend to almost always sell the stuff because if I gave a damn enough to care I'd finish it.

Heh, me and a buddy played Double Dash to death too. Damn thing wouldn't work ever again after that.

The best strategy in the game: go up stairs and pause balls.

imo, a lot of people buy games and they dont bet them, due to getting more games and thus ending up with more on their plate than they bargained for...
every game i have i beat because i dont make random purchases
i got this game for a reason and a plan on beating it!
im just having problems with golden axe 3 and defeating the last boss in super ghouls n ghosts

sometimes, a games is just not my cup of tea and becomes too much of a grind and to the bottom of the pile it goes. FF XIII I'm looking right at you. Made it handily to chapter 11 and boom done rinding that out... Oddly enough, I'll usually get through most download games for wii ware or PSN. I mean, so many of those titles are shovelware, but with mments of great play that I can't miss.
