I like Night, but that's not really a powerful quote...that's just sad...

It's powerfully sad.

Not really. A powerful quote should send chills down your spine...that just made me want to vomit. :/

Here's a Powerful Quote:

“Never shall I forget that night, the first night in camp, which has turned my life into one long night, seven times cursed and seven times sealed....Never shall I forget those moments which murdered my God and my soul and turned my dreams to dust. Never shall I forget these things, even if I am condemned to live as long as God Himself. Never.”

It has a bad@$$ cover, I'll give it that. Not a fan of children's books, unfortunately.

Alright, I am now annoyed with blind users. Since when did I ever say it was a Children's book?

Ill give you the facts straight up, its not a children's book, more of a teens/adults book. I'll let the reading take over.

Straight from the Wikipedia: "It won the coveted Red House Children's Book Award and the Hampshire Book Award in 2007."

You know what books don't win Children's Book awards? Books written for adults!

Edit: Also from the Wikipedia:

"Skulduggery Pleasant won the Red House Children's Book Award, the Bolton Children's Book Award[8] and the Staffordshire Young Teen Fiction Award. The book was also recommended for confident readers (9 years +) by the Richard & Judy Children's Book Club in 2007. It also won the Portsmouth Book Awards in 2008, having been selected by school children in Portsmouth."

Children read it, it's recommended for children aged 9 and up, and it's won Children's book awards.

There are plenty of children's books that are popular with adults (Harry Potter), but calling a spade a spade: this is a Children's book series.

Whoa, attitude much? I happened to look it up. It won 4 different awards for best children's book. Unless all of those experts are mistaken, I think it's safe to say it's a children's book.

EDIT: What Bankai said.

It won the Red House Children's Book Award and the Hampshire Book Award (given to works of children's literature) in 2007. I'm glad you think so highly of it that you'd rate it for teenagers, but it's still considered a children's book by the rest of the world.

Your attitude is not necessary, both in this thread and in others across the forums recently. I'd appreciate it if you'd calm down in general and start playing nice with your fellow users, CosmiC.

I know I'll probably get hate for this, but am I the only one who thinks Harry Potter is overrated?

Don't get me wrong, I think it's a good series, but I just don't get why it's as popular as it is. It just didn't feel nearly as exciting/interesting as Dragon Ball Z, Final Fantasy X, InuYasha, and Kingdom Hearts (other things I was into around that time).

Even as far as books go, I had a much better time with the Inheritance Cycle (LotR clone it may be). The whole wizard school concept also just never seemed cool to me.

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

@RR529 - I also enjoyed the Inheritance Cycle. Looking back, it had some flaws, but I still really enjoyed it all. I never got into Harry Potter.

I foresee what you'll do there.

Harry Potter doesn't do anything for me. It has no literature value beyond this idea that it "got kids reading again."

Except as soon as Harry Potter was finished the kids went right back to the video games, or moved on to other tripe like Hunger Games or Twilight.

CanisWolfred

Hunger Games...I'm not even gonna try to defend. It's derivitive as hell, and there are probably tons of better books out there than it. Still, my family all like it, including my bro who's a bit pickier with books. It sets up an interesting world, and the main character is quite complex. It also makes several points I can agree with, even if I've heard them before. Not that those make it any better than simply adequate, but it still makes for a good read, which is honestly all I ask from my books.

Actually, I suppose I could say the same for Harry Potter as well, though I lost my love of that series after book 4.

Won't comment on Twilight. The best I've heard from it from friends who have read it is that it has "colorful descriptions" or something like that. I don't want to judge that series before I get a chance to read it, but since everyone already spoiled everything for me, I'm not sure I'll ever read it.

It's also a novel, but I enjoyed the movie way more.

I made Sheldon & Mr. Randoms back on Flipnote Hatena, now i'm a kangaroo mod that has a funko pop collection!

I'm not keen politics since that stuff is spooky, I'd rather watch SpongeBob over Fox News anyways!

I didn't read the Hunger Games until a few months ago because I'm stubborn that way. I haven't read many stories with that premise and I liked the series very much. Maybe I should read Battle Royale...
My stance on Twilight is the same as CanisWolfred's.
@SheldonRandoms You're image isn't showing up for me.

I've been reading Incarceron by Catherine Fisher. I'm not too far in, but it's great so far. I'll update once I've finished. I know it has a sequel as well.

I don't think anyone has mentioned Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. Great read, and an unabashed love letter to gaming and 1980s pop culture.
