Nah. It's a reference to it being my first game (Unless I shelve it and say it sucks like everything else I do) and it references the particular inspiration it has, back when that series was in it's Prime.
Now I know as far as everyone is concerned I am just some kid making a promise but...my late grandfather did say to me at Xmas that I should do what I want to in life, and this is the one idea I have just not been able to put to bed in my usual manner of self-loathing. After playing over these 3 games again (Not so much the original!) and looking at the gameplay...I miss that experience, and while I and many others can always go back and play those games again, what incentive do the young'uns of today have? And the sad part is I know they wont care either. Too busy with their CoDs and Battlefields and the such.

As for giving people what they want...yeah. I'm not the only who misses this kind of game, and to be frank, I distinctly remember it being one of the first things I played. After Sonic 2 and Spyro the Dragon of course. It's quite a personal hole in my life tbh.

Kickstarter isn't that bad well i guess that's cause I have never done it but meh, also if you would like to see some great inspiration for games watch Steven universe and especially pay attention how gems fuse and there are different episodes for it and different combinations across levels watchcartoononline ik has every episode currently made, so happy only 2 episodes till season 1 is finished and season 2 can begin.

Ya for some reason have a habit of turning almost any game into a big one.
I think games need to be constrained to maintain focus. So many times have big games lost focus just to pad out a large world or something. -.-
I think that it's more of the fact of how they make it for example dark cloud 2 a marvelous big game that kept focus and was still be but big can vary more on how much content is in it rather then just size for example god of war 3 takes up 35gb and when u keep into account that it's just a large mountain it doesn't really have much content when they recycle all the enemy's except bosses but when you keep into account of super mario 3d world it doesn't to much more then 1gb and yet is filled with hundreds of levels, several worlds, up to 5 players on at the same time, minigames, bonus worlds, and even a stamp system and book with access to its own forums. which in terms is massive amount of content. Of course mario levels do recycle many enemy's as well like goomba's and koopa's but not every enemy.

I might download Unity and have a little play with a very empty level for my game, before I get the course build out.

@BLPs: First of all, great response. I don't entirely agree on the "make what you want versus what the consumer wants topic", but when you're only focused on one aspect of developement, I'm sure it's best not to get tangled in the rest of it. I look forward to seeing your pre-alpha work (I have an odd love for rough game design) and will try to give any relevant feedback. Good luck, Sean.
