Chris Hülsbeck. He is a game music composer from germany, born '68. He has written soundtracks for more than 70 titles. He composed great soundtracks for C64 and Amiga games.
For example Jinks, Bad Cat, To Be On Top, Katakis, The Great Giana Sisters (on the C64) or R-Type, Turrican 1-3, X-Out, Rock 'n' Roll, Ballblazer, Apidya (on Amiga).
He became soon the nickname "Magician of Sound". Rightly. I personally love especially the Amiga title soundtrack from R-Type. It always sends a shiver down my spine.
Nobuo Uematsu is probably my favorite, but I like this new guy Sean Beeson that did the Mecho Wars and Eternity's Child soundtracks. Reminds me a bit of Danny Elfman.
Like my friend lz, I have a soft spot in my heart for Motoi Sakuraba, since he did the soundtracks for a few of my favorite games of all time. Both Golden Sun games and the Tales games Symphonia and Phantasia have some of my favorite music ever, and I'm listening to the soudtrack for Golden Sun: The Lost Age as I write, I love it that much.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
