Topic: Best PS3 Model To Buy?

Posts 1 to 14 of 14

I'm planning to buy a PS3 and I wanted to know which one to get because there are so many! I looked up the 60GB and that was the best for me because it has pretty much all of the features of todays models, plus backwards compatability. Then I went on eBay and they are SO expensive because they are out of print! YIKES! So that one is out of question. What are the other good PS3 models? Are there any other affordable (new) ones that are backwards compatable? If not it's not a HUGE deal, it would just be nice. Otherwise, what should I get for the holiday?

I have no idea what the features are, so I'd LOVE to hear input before then please!

Thanks

Backwards compatibility would be nice. Silly Sony. I think the new 160 gb and 320 gb slims are the same thing only one has more memory.

I'm sure if I'm wrong someone will come behind me and say.

I'd get a Slim and then a PS2 if you want backwards compatibility. You'd probably get a better deal than the old models

I'd go with the 320 GB slim, because lots of memory is great (and hey, maybe we'll even see PS2 games on PSN someday). Plus the phat models are FAT! Massive. CHUNKY. I don't think there's any difference between the nonbackwards-compatible phats vs. the slims either, so you might as well just go for the little guy with as much memory as possible.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

Believe it or not I actually do own a PS2 still I just figured it would be more efficient to have a PS3 with backwards compatability. How's the 80GB? Because that's the one I'm looking at right now. Otherwise I guess I'll go for a slim one. But more imput will be nice anyways to come up with a final verdict please

Also do all of the models support PS1 playback? And which ones support SD cards (I heard some of them do? Or flashcards maybe?)

OK. I'm guessing a new slim model is the best way to go? How many USB ports do they have and what are their functions?

Last Question!: Do the PS3's have a memore card slot for PS1 games? Now I can't even decide whether to play the PS1 games on my PS3 or PS2 which I will keep because I believe I will get the 160 Model. I have 3 consoles to play PS1 games on!

And do the PS1 games also play in HD?

You have to purchase whats called a Playstation 3 memory card Adapter. http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-3-Memory-Card-Adaptor/dp/B0...

You may also make a Internal memory card on your ps3 hard drive but you cant use your old saves that way. I suggest that adapter, im going to buy one eventually

So in that case then maybe I'll just stick to playing my PS1 games on my PS2 then where I don't have to buy an adapter.

Sorry to have to bring this back up but I'm buying the PS3 today. From what I've been told, 160GB model is the one to get, correct? That's what I think I'm going for. Thanks for the help!

And finally, just in general, are there any last things I should know or think about before buying? Anything peripherals that are essential to pick up with it? Lastly, just any tips that would be useful to know?

Thanks again!
