Topic: Best place to buy games in san diego, CA

Posts 1 to 6 of 6

If everything goes according to the plans, I may go to San Diego this summer. And I plan to buy some games over there because I suppose that there are more places to buy than here in torreon mexico and with a better price without all the taxes and permissions we have to face (seriously like 90 dls for Mario kart wii?!)

So just asking, what place is the best for buy games with a good variety, not so high prices both new and used? I have heard about Gamestop but I suppose there are better options?

Assuming you won't be able to buy online, Gamestop has a good selection and offers used games, but often new games are cheaper at any of the big superstores, such as Wal-Mart or Target. Best Buy is another large general electronics store, but they often have buy 2 get one free deals for DS games. Best Buy's selection isn't always great, there's mostly only brand new games and shovelware (at least where I am), so if you want anything that's been out for a while, it can be hit or miss. Target has better selection, and I'm not sure about Wal-Mart. If you preorder any game from Target, it costs 1 dollar and you get a 5 dollar gift card (you will spend it, Target has most everything one could need); Gamestop also often has game specific preorder bonuses. If you have a few stores convenient to you, you can check prices and see if any are having in-store sales online.

I live on the East Coast, so I'm not sure if companies stock their San Diego stores differently. All the stores are national chains though, so I can't imagine there'd be TOO much difference.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

Sadly, Gamestop is your best bet for a good selection anymore. They get a lot of flak, but if you're paying $90 for Mario Kart in Mexico they'll seem to be a bargain in contrast. You can try and hunt down independent game stores, but unfortunately I don't have a clue where they might be (as I don't live there). Other than that, pretty much what Token said.

I usually get my games from Best Buy. Gamestop is good if your looking for used games. I've never shopped at Game Crazy but I hear they're going out of business very soon so they might have some pretty good deals.

The big retailers, you either have to check 'cheapassgamer' or just visit all the stores. I have got some really good deals at all the stores, but their promotions change all the time and usually just last a week.

Toys R Us: Sometimes has buy one get 2nd half off on Wii games
Best Buy: has had buy 2 DS games, get one free
Target: has clearance games, but the selection changes often and varies by store
Wal-Mart: has clearance games, but usually games that didn't sell well
Fry's Electronics: right now doesn't have much good deals, but I have seen them had some awesome deals on games before.

GameStop: I only pre-order games from here because they sometimes come with a cool bonus gift. Their used selection is big, but AAA games are only discounted $5 from new retail.
