Well, I'm not really trying to discover new music, Kid A, mostly I listen to the same handful of favorites and local music, but yea radio does suck. Whenever it's not playing classical music, I listen to NPR instead, and often I just roll down the windows and listen to the wind, but often enough I'm stuck listening to one of three rock stations, hoping that they play Red Hot Chili Peppers or Green Day, the only two bands frequently given radio time that I can stomach.
Hmm, MGMT stated that Congratulations wouldn't have a Kids, Electric Feel or Time to Pretend on it. I haven't listened to the entirety of the CD (yet); however, Congratulations is definitely a more mature sounding album. It may not get much (if any) radio airplay, but if you're open minded it may very well be the best album of 2010 for you.

That sounds a bit like me. Back as an undergraduate, I'd pick up new musical interests all the time, and then double my list of artists via each girl I dated. Now I just continue to follow the core list of artists that have stuck with me, and I never really seek new bands to be interested in. I also listen pretty much exclusively to NPR while driving.

There's a lot of really good indie bands these days, but I only I few I think actually matter. Here's a few:(not sure exactly what indie even means really. But that's another discussion): Vampire Weekend The National Animal Collective The Walkmen LCD Soundsystem Phoenix Arcade Fire Spoon
I loooove Animal Collective, the National and LCD Soundsystem Some of Vampire Weekend's stuff is really good but I haven't listened to a lot of them, Arcade Fire was a band I never got into though. Good taste
Oh and some "indie" bands (indie is kind of a loose term): The Breeders (formed by Kim Deal of the Pixies) The Beat Happening (Lo-fi indie pop) Modest Mouse R.E.M Supergrass
@Warioswoods and Adam NPR is the only thing I can stand to listen to while driving. I'll occasionally turn it to my local alternative music station, but even they rarely play bands that I like (other than Phoenix, who have gotten rightfully huge with their newest album. It's a pop classic, really).
@tambourine man Good taste, man! I will say I have a harder time getting into Animal Collective's older stuff, but Merriweather Post Pavillion is a masterpiece, and I'm digging their Fall Be Kind EP as well. I'm obsessed with LCD right now--got a bit of a man crush on James Murphy.

I'm in the same boat as you with AC. I'm listening to parts of MPP for the first time now and need to get the rest of Fall Be Kind. Grass (the song) is super awesome, though.
