You know, I used to be a big fan of Hercules...until I was actually remotely familiar with Greek and Roman mythology. Now it seems weird and kind of tactless to me...I suppose Aladdin might not be a faithful potrayal of the classic Arabian Nights tale, but even if it isn't, it still feels like a really good film to me, that uses its setting and source material to its advantage.

I love mythology, but I don't really care if it was butchered at all for this movie. It was an amazing, action packed Disney movie. All the character and monster designs were just so memorable and different to me.. It's gotta be my favorite Disney movie, it's not like it was a terrible story either. Growing up some of my other favorite movies were "Clash of the Titans" and "Jason and the Argonauts". I was probably overly stoked for Disney's Hercules.
Besides.. everyone uses Greek Mythology in different ways to make their own stories, it's definitely been butchered much, MUCH worse. Look at the Percy Jackson stories. That first movie was a cringe-fest. I haven't even bothered to see the second one. Maybe those are bad examples since they don't actually take place in ancient times.. but still. It just irked the heck out of me.
