Best is so hard to choose but the one game I’ve replayed the most is probably Majoras Mask so I’ll go with that. Worst game is Other M, I’ve repeatedly tried to play it and get into and I just can’t. Such a big disappointment for me.
Man, if we’re doing console sets, I doubt I can play. I’ve played some horrible games in my time. And judging by these lists, some of you are either very fortunate, risk-averse, or experience memory loss. 😂
No hate for Urban Champion? Or one of the terrible first party NES sports titles? Pokemon Channel? Doshin the Giant was a massively flawed game but I actually enjoyed the moment to moment controls and I think that at its core there's a great game in the way it simplified the god genre (it just went too far).
Top pick for the 'best' Nintendo game is a tough one. Super Metroid, A Link to The Past, BoTW, Mario Galaxy 2, Paper Mario TTYD and Mario Kart 8 are all top tier.
I'm sticking to Nintendo-published games only. This list would like almost entirely different if I was counting third party games that released on those same systems.
I'll also avoid easy targets like sports games or creativity tools/exercise motivators/anything else in that vein.
NES:
Best: Super Mario Bros. 3
Worst: Urban Champion
SNES:
Best: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Worst: Kirby Super Star
Ah, so if we're doing Nintendo-created/published games by console....
(Disclaimer: Some of the games listed under "Worst" aren't necessarily bad.)
NES
Best: Super Mario Bros. 3
Worst: Duck Hunt
SNES
Best: Super Mario World (ALttP would probably go here too, but I've only played the GBA port at this time)
Worst: Super Mario Kart
N64/GameCube: Skipping both as I don't have sufficient experience with the games of either system besides a couple of VC titles (N64, both excellent) and ports that were originally on the GameCube (See below).
Wii
Best: Tie between Super Mario Galaxy and Twilight Princess
Worst: Pokemon Battle Revolution
Wii U
Best: Tie between Wind Waker HD and Xenoblade Chronicles X
Worst: Game & Wario
Game Boy
Best: Pokemon Yellow
Worst: Super Mario Land
Game Boy Color
Best: Link's Awakening DX
Worst: Donkey Kong Country
Game Boy Advance
Best: Three-way tie between Metroid: Zero Mission, Minish Cap, and the ALttP/Four Swords cart.
Worst: I've played much, MUCH worse third party games and actually fairly enjoy this one, but...Pokemon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire.
DS
Best: Tie between Professor Layton and the Unwound Future and Pokemon Black/White 2 (Platinum is a very close second)
Worst: Pokemon Dash
3DS
Best: Tie between OoT and MM 3D
Worst: Tri Force Heroes
I assure you that some of this list would be very different if third parties were included.
Ok since you guys done with every console I do the same thing
Nintendo 64
======
Best: Mario 64
Worst: Superman 64
DS
Best: New super mario bros DS
Worst: Pokemon ranger (It might be a good game to people, but personally never got into it)
Wii
=
Best: Wii sports man the amount of times I spent playing that game is unreal.
Worst: Snowboarding (Again this is a good game but it was just boring for me)
Wii U
Best: Mario Maker all the way.
Worst: Mario Kart 8: Characters where way too easy to unlock compared to the wii version, too many spammed characters. Like you could have put all the mario characters in one box like you did with the shy guys.
It is a fun game overall but just hoped it had more challenge when it came to unlocking and there would have been more characters that are not Mario or Peach outfits.
Nintendo Switch
=========
I only got the switch 3 weeks ago so I can't really say yet but from what I played so far.
Best: Smash bros ultimate
Worst: Mario bros Deluxe. Its the same crap as the wii U version set with two different features.
NES Best: Kirby's Adventure
Worst: NES Baseball/Golf
Gameboy Best: Link's Awakening
Worst: Metroid 2
SNES Best: Yoshi's Island
Worst: Star Fox (this is both a statement of how dated the game is but also how amazing (...and few) Nintendo's games on SNES were)
N64 Best: Paper Mario
Worst: Hey You Pikachu!
GBA Best: Mother 3
Worst: Mario Pinball Land
GCN Best: Metroid Prime
Worst: Mario Party 5
DS Best: Mario Kart DS
Worst: Yoshi's Island DS
Wii best: Super Mario Galaxy
Worst: Flingsmash
3DS Best: Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon
3DS Worst: Pilotwings Resort
@Harmonie You’re definitely entitled to your opinion. I added that last part pretty much to make fun of those that rag on other people for no good reason. It’s all in good fun.
Reading: Too much Watching: Not enough Playing: SMTV
@I-U Despite Metroid being one of my favorite Nintendo franchises, I haven't had so much interest in Prime Hunters, mainly because most of the games I have played have the Prime Trilogy lock on feature. You see, the only game that I like that didn't had that type of lock on was Jet Force Gemini. Perhaps if they make a remake with an optional Prime Trilogy lock on feature, I may give it a try. Of course I do like the story of Hunters.
