The best mindless action movie I've seen is G.I. Joe: Retaliation. I had so much fun with that movie. It's so freaken good, cause Ninjas. Speaking of Fast & Furious, I watched 6 recently and found it a bit boring in comparison.
I kind of want to try out both White house Down and Olympus has Fallen for some reason. Anyone know how they are? Die hard 2-4 were fun, but Die hard 5 made John Mcclaine into some Superhero. ok not literally, but watch a good day to die hard, and you'll know what i mean....better yet don't
Godzilla (2014)- The end fight scene is really enough to cement this movie in my top picks for action movies.
Considering the fact that this movie was almost universally considered to be a huge bore with not enough action, I'd say you made a mistake and probably meant to post this in the 'Unpopular Opinions' thread.
I agree it didn't have enough action. My point is that the last 15 minutes (and every part with Bryan Cranston) make it totally worth it.
@arronishere do you like any DC animated original movies? Under the Red Hood is commonly considered one of the best of the bunch. I really liked Son of Batman. It was definitely flawed, and it could have used maybe 15 more minutes of runtime, but I thought it was pretty good. As far as the action goes, I thought it was brilliant; particularly the final reactor fight.

The Mad Max movie does live up to the hype. It is probably in my top 5 of action films ever. Can you believe that all the effects were pratical with little to no CGI?

Saw it yesterday and was a bit overwhelmed by it (upfront I am a Mad Max virgin), the entire film felt to me like the first time you see the twist in "From Dusk 'Till Dawn", I spent a lot of the film thinking "what am I watching? what the f*ck is going on?". Not sure if that a good or bad thing, it is exhausting feeling that for 2 hours though...
The Avengers is my personal favorite(even though it's very recent)
A few of my other favorites are Minority Report, Terminator 2, Total Recall, Kill Bill, Bourne Trilogy, Indiana Jones, True Lies, Demolition Man, Every Marvel film, Mission impossible, and I could name a ton more.

Beyond the ones everyone would mention, I'd say Dredd. That movie's fantastic and it has the best 3D I've ever seen.
My copy of Dredd is still in it's wrapper as I've only seen it once in the cinema and I really don't want to let down by the lack of 3D at home. The fall at the end is what comes to my mind when I think of 3D in films rather than the floating blue rocks in Avatar.
Surprised no one has mentioned Hot Fuzz yet. Not only is it a love letter to cop action films, it's an excellent (and hilarious) action movie in its own right.
