I don't believe in ghosts. If I'm wrong, when I die, I'll knock over a bunch of crap in all you all's houses to let you know.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

@Sean007s: The ones in the videos are creepy.

What is the meaning of life? That's so easy, the answer is TETRIS.

Are the videos real?

@Sean007s: Well, I don't have a full grasp of Japanese, but they're pretty freaky regardless and as for the other video, its an overall compilation. Its not really my place to say whether the videos are real or not, but its kinda natural to be skeptical about supposed paranormal encounters.

Two of my friends died within months when I was 16, even back then I was fully aware of how the world worked... we live, we die, and the carbon within us is returned to the earth, there is no soul, just electrical signals that one day die. Obviously, this didn't give me much comfort when grieving so I came up with a way of softening the blow for myself... alternate time-lines.

I have always believed in a Multiverse, that with every action of every day a new path sprouts off and develops similarly yet differently. These time-lines branch and intertwine continuously. Imagine if you will the moment of someones death, in one time-line they die, and in another they survive. People who have died in my life may well be alive in other time-lines, just as I may well be dead elsewhere. My point? Ghosts are echoes, shadows if you will, caused when time-lines cross (the multiverse is quite a jumble after millions and millions of separating branches), you may see someone random and unknown to you, you may also see someone you know to be dead (as they are still alive elsewhere).

You probably think I'm mad. But to be honest, my explanation isn't half as far fetched as more common beliefs.

I like the multiverse theory but I don't think it accounts for ghost sightings. I think it'd work volumetrically rather than affecting specific bodies of matter, i.e. if two universes crossed you'd see a shift or a phasing of your entire surroundings, it wouldn't just place one individual being into the same room in another universe. If this was happening there'd be accounts of environments changing dramatically... If you think about how wildy different 99.999% of universes must be (I realise 99.999% of infinite doesn't make sense but you get my point!) then for every "ghost sighting" you'd have several reported incidents of random objects or areas completely transforming.

I don't know how to explain ghosts. I definitely don't believe in a human spirit or soul, but I also find it difficult to have little enough faith in the human psyche to disregard the thousands upon thousands of reports. They can't all be crazy, surely? SOMETHING IS AFOOT

This thread got me thinking. I have a book I like to pick up sometimes which cites true ghost stories and happenings - revenge from the dead, murder haunters, friendly ghosts, poltergeists and the like. I don't know whether or not I believe them, but I did see a taken picture of the live act of a poltergeist, although I am a little doubtful. There's even a DVD I bought of the first season of a TV show based on a team of three men who investigate paranormal activities in a house.

I suppose it depends on whether or not you believe in reincarnations, spirits of the dead, paranormal signals, etcetera. People usually disregard experiences as stress-induced tension or due to an over-active imagination, but then again who really knows? If ghosts do happen to exist, I'd have to say they come in many forms which might depend on the ghost's human form's death experience - which explains the good and bad.

With regards to whether or not I believe in ghosts, I must say no. Although, I have had a few strange experiences where I feel like something's following me, or there's something in the dark room across the corridor (curtains reflect this). I even feel it when doors slam unexpectedly, even though I know it's the wind. Maybe people just feel these things once they happen to just know or hear about ghosts and spirits, but through some cited experiences, I must say that I'm unsure of this theory.

I don't think ghosts exist simply because there's no point to them. If you were a ghost would you spend your days in an old, dark house making the odd noise or footstep in the middle of the night? Maybe make the odd painting slightly cooked on the wall or nudge a glass off a table onto the floor? See, if it was me, I wouldn't mess around doing that crap - I'd full on scare people. Throw chairs all over the place, posess little girls and make them vomit at priests, chase people through rooms scooby doo style - there'd be nothing subtle about it.

I also wouldn't haunt an old empty house - I'd probably haunt a cinema so can watch some films. Maybe a lap dance bar...

They're probably jerks who never saw a ghost and want to try to persuade everyone that ghosts really exist. With technology and all, you just can't always trust a video. Did you see pixels? A fantastic merge of animation and reality.

Ghosts follow me around, but for some reason when I turn around and look at them they stop moving. But I always feel like they keep following me when I turn my back on them.

If you find yourself spiritually drifting (as I was for far too many years), remember that Jesus can and will walk across the water to reach you and bring you back to shore.

Define 'ghosts.' Do I believe that dead people have nothing better to do than staying mostly invisible to scare us? No, not particularly. I do believe, however, that ghosts do exist as a perfectly explainable scientific phenomena. Just not perfectly explainable yet. We don't exactly know much about how the universe and time itself actually work (as Dara O' Brien said, science doesn't know everything. If it did know everything, it'd stop. It doesn't mean you're allowed to fill in the gaps with whatever voodoo nonsense you please), so perhaps when we have a better grasp on them, we'll understand what creates the ability for the past to be visible, even if only for a split second, to those in the present.

I don't believe in ghosts, but one time a bunch of my friends and I were sleeping at another friends house.
And we were trying to go to sleep and this one guy, named Josh, kept thinking that he heard something up stairs. (By the way, did I mention he was a psychopath? Cause he was.) And the whole time he was like "Guys, be quiet, I think I heard something!) and we were like "Dude, shut up and go to sleep! You're probably just hearing yourself being weird." Man that kid was IRRITATING!
