Not talking about the artwork, the artwork is great. I'm talking about how they lazily packaged this, by instead of getting their own copy, they ripped the artwork from Google Images which has an IGN logo next to the mouth.
The low poly CG hasn't aged well. They should have made better models for the two Pokemon, or they should have just done the artwork in 2D..
This is the worst example in the entire thread. Your reasons are bad and the box arts are very, very good.
For the Okami one, I was talking about the IGN logo next to the mouth, I was just talking about how lazy they were when the packaged that. the artwork itself is good. The Pokemon Stadium one has bad looking CG for Blastoise and Charizard. They could have made better CG models or use the artwork in the anime.
@DiscoDriver43, I thought we were just posting bad box covers. I didn't know this was a game to see who posts a box cover that's worse than the previous post.
I never really thought the Pokemon Stadium box art was bad. It was pretty much what the games were about (Pokemon battles in 3D), and it looked good back then.
But yeah, the Okami one is kind of controversial, it has some kind of watermark from the gaming site they took it from. Not sure if it's that one though. It was some sort of special version. it is that one, I found the logo.
....Is that really the logo? Had to look it up on Google's image search...and I think people are just seeing the logo and it's really not there, or something. >.>

Keep it PG-13-ish.
Without a doubt the US boxart of Super Mario Bros 2, 3 and World. They are terrible compared to their Japanese counterparts.
...not really. They show a well-drawn Mario doing stuff that's actually fairly accurate to the game. They're simply while still eye-catching. I actually think the Japanese box arts have way too much going on, making it harder to pick out if I saw it on a shelf with a bunch of other games. IMO, this is eye-catching enough to be easily and readily identifiable, while this is a bit too busy for a box. Same with the SMB3 box art, too. Super Mario World's box has too much yellow, IMO, but other than that, it is an improvement. I still like the NA box a little more.
As for my own contribution to this thread:
I can't believe how many times I skipped over that game thinking it was just some dumb shovelware game. It's not terrible, but it looks a little too cheesey for a game that's actually pretty hard-edged and solemn...it's about two people trying to survive during a disaster, and while I guess it conveys that, it's more like ICO, where it's more about the loneliness and perserverance than the spectacle. I mean, it's a sequel to Disaster Report, and that had a pretty neat box art: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/9a/Disaster_Report...
It's not perfect, but it's easier on the eyes and it fits a little more.
