Wow! Thanks for making me discover ZP, it's friggin awesome!... AVGN is gonna be too busy with his new acting career to be making many more videos... kinda sad...but thanks for ZP!
Zero Punctuation. Why would anyone watch AVGN when there's that?
Because he doesn't review - he skewers and rants for ratings. I enjoy him as much as the next guy, at least in small doses, but he is not an objective reviewer.
AVGN may rage about poor design choices, but he still gives the impression that he loves gaming. ZP, on the other hand, does not. He's hyper critical, even of the best games, and I can only stomach so much of that. I could do without AVGN or ZP using so much trashy language, but I don't expect them to change. Some people really enjoy hearing the same three or four adjectives, apparently.

It's also the fact that it's an entirely different format, goal and approach. Asking, "Why watch AVGN when you can watch ZP?" is akin to asking, "Why watch The Twilight Zone when you can watch America's Most Wanted?"
I don't think the AVGN has declined in quality at all! His recent review of Ninja Gaiden I found to be quite humorous and it reminded me of the times I played that game and how frustrated I got every time I would die because of a cheap enemy respawn or enemy. Also, sometimes I enjoy his reviews to learn about consoles that I don't know too much about such as his recent Pong Consoles review, Atari Jaguar, and the Virtual Boy. One of my favorite episodes was when he reviewed Plumbers don't wear Ties. I could not believe that somebody would make a game like that and I loved his reaction to the guy in the chicken mask and the girl's boss. Also, I know some people don't like his rants, but I loved when he talked about how bad Batman Forever on the SNES was. I agree with brooks83, and to the people who say he should come up with better jokes, then how about you try to come up with new jokes and make 2-3 reviews every month! That's a lot of work compared to what the Irate Gamer does. The Irate Gamer takes forever to post a new review and has anyone noticed that he's starting to review games again that AVGN has already done. Just recently he did Mario is Missing and Mario's Time Machine. He also reviewed the Odyssey. Also, IG's humor is weak compared to AVGN's, but some of IG's videos I enjoy, however a lot of IG's videos I disagree with such as his Aladdin review. I don't hate the guy, but sometimes I feel like he hasn't really played the game to know everything about it such as his Muscle(NES) review when he didn't mention that all the characters have special moves. Sometimes he also makes a lot of pointless arguments in his reviews. Anyway AVGN, I'm a big fan of him will always be and I even bought an AVGN shirt recently! Look forward to seeing him return in May and he's only doing one review a month from now on so he can work on other projects such as his role in the remake of Plan 9.
So I hear there's not gonna be any AVGN until May. Thankfully there is still the weekly episode of the even funnier Nostalgia Critic at www.thatguywiththeglasses.com

Agreed I enjoy both (are there ZP DVDs?) and don't find that one makes the other redundant at all.
All these internet stars are different in the way they present things, produce their show, their brand of humor, etc. It's not fair to judge them based on each other. Some people will like them and some people don't. It's as simple as that.
@Rensch: Not dissing Nostalgia Critic, he's pretty funny, but I think more time = more quality in most cases.
I'm pretty sure I think I'm funnier than I really am. 10 Years of Kingdom Hearts 3DS Friend Code: 0301-9785-9580 [url=http://www.youtube.com/user/NeoStormGaming]Watch me and my friends play games! Now with better visual qualit...

Meh, if you want more than 1 raving gaming lunatic dissing video games per week, I suppose. There's only so many video game "shows" that I'd spend time on, ZP is one of the few, if not the only one.
I mostly posted it to introduce AVGN fans to ZP anyway. Needless to say, like many other posters in this thread, I find AVGN to be annoying as hell.
(Comparing ZP-AVGN to Twilight Zone/America's Most Wanted is a bit of a stretch btw)

A bit, yes. But not much more. As I said, they have entirely different formats (live action with gameplay footage vs. still photographs and "animation"), goals (viewing nostalgic experience through the visor of time vs. advice on the purchase of games you can actually buy new) and approaches (fond frustration vs. intentional dislike of absolutely everything).
One doesn't render the other obsolete; they serve entirely different needs and functions. Yes, they both deal with video games. If that's your only qualification for redundancy you must be missing out on an awful lot!

Being quite the knowledgeable gamer, I thought I knew a lot, but the Nerd has often taught me about things I never knew about, like the god awful Plumbers Don't Wear Ties, and that series of Artari games where you could win actual treasure! XD
He's meant to be downgrading to 1 episode a month from May, but meh, I still watch and enjoy his vids.
I don't exactly find any of the new AVGN's funny, but they're very entertaining and I always love hearing James and his Videogame opinions....Personally i find Awesome Video Games! and Talking Classic are freakin hilarious at times. And then there's Happy Video Game Nerd whome is fantastic and always entertaining.
