Actually, the iOS versions were released about 2 years ago, in Japanese. I think there is an Android version already, just not in English yet. So if this goes well, I'm sure that version will be localized soon enough.
1) this thread reminded me that I lost my SMT ios save file after I was halfway through the game, and now I am sad...
2) I've been prepping for the release of Persona 5 by playing through the Persona franchise, seeing as I've yet to beat a game in the series...or 90% of my games for that matter...
I'm on the first Persona now, and I'm off to a good start. Other than Persona Grinding, I've been making steady progress. I just beat the rodent tank thing and rescued the school. Now I gotta go to the library to see somebody about what's going on with the demons and other worlds and stuff (it's probably the Demon Guy. I mean, that name was a dead giveaway from the start). Not sure if I should spoiler this post, but none of that came off as shocking revelations, but I'll my next posts since I want to be a bit more in-depth next time.
I think the thing about playing P4 before P3 is that 4 was way more organic and natural with its story, while 3 is "you're tragic and special and we are tragic and special and everything we do is important, we also have a robot"
So, P3 ends up being a little bit too... JRPG?
(Also, I hear in the FES version there's no way to directly control your teammates in battle I think. That can make things harder.)
Not too far into the game, but already there are things that bug the heck out of me (putting aside the inability to control most of your party directly, which I'd already mentally prepared myself for). I'm willing to give most of them time, as it is unfair to judge this game by P4 standards, but who on earth thought it was a good idea to give the characters a stamina gauge where they poop out after fighting for a few minutes?

It gets better gradually. The Tartarus wears you out very fast early in the game, but by mid-game, you can easily do 10 floors in a single night without running out of stamina. It's still a stupid mechanic, but it gets less crippling the more you grind.
Also, you probably already know this but just to make sure, you can set tactics for individual party members. Not quite as good as controlling directly, but you can order them to focus on healing, support, attack, etc.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.
Is the stamina different from the FES and Portable versions?
In P3P I can go for dozens and dozens of floors in a single night with the same characters, and they only get tired after leaving Tartarus for the night.

Your condition changes as soon as you would poop out for FES and regular P3. I like the slight mechanic changes in P3P.
Playing through Persona 3 FES atm to celebrate my purchase of a working PS2.
I don't like it as much as P4 so far.
P4's definitely the better game. I'd say P3 had overall better atmosphere, though.
I liked P4 more as well, but I think I would lean towards P3 if it wasn't for the Tartarus.
Same. Even in Portable, it was just not that interesting having one big randomized dungeon you had to go through on top of all the other stuff. At least for me. I hate randomized dungeons pretty much by default, so take that for what you will...
According to Nintendo's website PersonaQ is $29.99. Can someone at home verify if that is on the eshop?
Looking that up now and will update in a sec.
Yep, sure is, looks like I need a new eshop card. Thankfully I have an unused best buy 25$ gift card! Till the 20th btw. Thanks for the heads up as you very well knew I would see this!
I'll definitely get it now but I don't know when I'll be playing it. That new grid based strategy game from circle is fun and cheap if you want to take a look at that as well. You should enjoy it. 5$ is plenty worth the price. Its called Mercenaries Saga 2.
@MERG I also bumped the Persona Q topic for ya and let people know about the sale since a lot were waiting on it.
Heh, I ended up getting Persona Q for $40 at Gamestop, so I'm good. I haven't even had a chance to fire it up, actually...I was planning on working through all my Persona games, but my PSP broke before I could finish the first two games...
@MERG: I'll assume 30$ since it's not that old. Not enough time my friend. I've played maybe an hour of it. I need to stop buying new games for like 2 years but there's so much more rpg goodness coming and I want it all!
@Spoony_Tech: I hear ya Tech...I have less and less time it seems. There are far too many games I want and too many games I already own. I need a vacation from life so I can get to all of these RPGs. I am enjoying Merc Saga 2...so thanks for the heads up.
