Topic: Are you getting a 3DTV?

With more and more 3DTV's on the market and channels like ESPN & Discovery Channel already having 3D channels, are you getting one? Also are you waiting later this year for one's without glasses or getting one with glasses? Share your thoughts of 3DTV too.

3DTV without glasses is having tests this year in Japan from Sony. And Japan is supposed to have 3DTV without glasses by Mid-2011.

3D tv seems horrid idea.

It's a phase, and in a few years, nobody will use 3D so meh.

I'll wait for the 3DTV without the need for glasses. Then I'll bite.

I've thought about it, but I hate 3D exclusive Blu-rays. How to Train Your Dragon, Coraline, Monsters Vs. ALiens, Avatar, Shrek 4 are all only sold in 3D starter bundles, for certain tvs. I heard Dreamworks is going to make all of its 3D movies exclusive to Panasonic starter bundles for a year after release. If I'm going to buy into 3D, I expect all 3D content to available to purchase no matter what Tv I bought.

we actually plan on getting one when we move next july. i don't mind having glasses at all. i think it'll be great for something like ffxiv on ps3, and of course espn3d

I'll wait until the technology is more standardized. I wouldn't like to end up like those who bought a HDDVD player in the HDDVD vs. Blue-ray battle

So long as it's common and there's no glasses involved I'll go for it.

@WaveBoy When the 3DS comes out, sure, I'll love it, but I frankly just hate how everything is in 3D nowadays, it doesn't bother me, because the world is just going through a 3D phase.

I want D-box enabled furniture over a 3D TV.
I think that would pull me more into a experience and hope the Wii2HD | whatever will support it.

I would like them to transition out sd stuff first. HD is now common but I feel that they are trying to go way to fast with some of these upgrades in Hardware for TV's. Why not hold off until Blu-ray catches up with dvd before we add a new format. personally I can't afford to upgrade my major entertainment equipment every couple years.I think I will wait at least another 5 years before I decide to buy another flat panel Unless it dies in between.

EDIT: The other sad thing about going to 3d is that you have to get a 3d tv, the extra glasses, the 3d player and the receiver if you are using one.

Seeing as we dont even have a flatscreen or hdtv probably not. But if it was necessarry for say, a new Wii 2, then we would since we skipped the whole blu ray hdtv craze.
