I'm 20, so yeah, I can. My parents didn't care before though. My first M rated game was when I was 9 years old, and I watched my father play through Resident Evil 2.
I can't play M games (MAYBE if I begged and showed them some game footage), but there aren't a huge amount I'm interested in. Ironically, last weekend I heard some elementary school kids arguing about which COD game was the best. It was kinda funny.
I find it peculiar how most AAA games on HD consoles are M rated. Why is there so much of an obsession with explicit content? Most blood in video games looks pretty bad anyways.
One Game: Turok Evolution Thats the only one my parents let me play, the other 20 I had to sneak in to the house. I Have my ways However they let me watch every R-Rated movie I want besides Watchmen and Sexually Explicit Content, even though I sneak that too yes I mean PR0NZ. HEHE.
I was 15 when the ESRB was established & was at a time in my life where I wasn't playing many video games. Mostly because I was bored with what I had & since I wasn't old enough to get a job where I live yet, could buy new ones. When I got my 1st job & was able to buy whatever games I wanted, I was old enough for any game no matter the rating. (except AO which I've still never played any games with that rating.)
Flandre Scarlet, she's cute, she's colorful, she can blow up entire cities, she's also a vampire. Start running sparklepants.
The first rated M game i played was conker bad fur day for Nintendo 64 it was awesome i wish I knew where i put it cause i would still be playing it to this day
I do not really like M rated games, they usualy are not that good. I have been allowed since 10.
That is TLinkerbell to you! [17:17] theblackdragon: considering i have neither an xbox nor a ps3 :3 [17:17] Corbie: Nintendo fangirl alert!!!! [17:17] James Newton: Uh oh The James Ne...
I guess when I was in elementary school, I wasn't allowed to play Mortal Combat and stuff (back when it was cool to have blood for the sake of having blood). After that it didn't really matter anymore, but we never really asked to play GTA or anything so I don't know. We mainly had Sega and Nintendo consoles which never had as many M titles (after the Genesis), and most of the games we wanted were like Sonic, Mario, Smash Brothers. We did have soul caliber and stuff too though when I was in HS. There were never any M games on the tops of our "to-buy" lists, and our money and time was limited.
I imagine when I have children, I will have to deal with how to explain to my kindergartener GTA is not a game they can play, even though "all" their friends are. So, looking forward to that...
I am way too lazy to think of something clever. My Backloggery
I don't see why I would want to. Most of them have enough swearing for a sailor, and certain other things, but I'm not really fazed by the violence. Except for the fact that I gag at the site of blood, and close my eyes when Rikimaru kills someone in Tenchu 4...
Anyway, certain games could be rated T if they took out some of the stuff. Like Heavy Rain-no matter what people say, this game could still be just as realistic without all the swearing, and seriously, who wants to see Ethan take a shower? Sure, the target gamer age is 35. That doesn't mean that all 35yr olds go around cussing all day and killing people.
I'm kind of sad that a lot of the PS3 library is M rated(since I plan on getting one). It's not that I can't play them-I'm sure my Dad trusts me with my gaming choices-it's that I don't want the words booming out of my speakers, and the guts/nudity flashing across my 46", all exposed to whoever happens to be in the room, including me... I guess you could say that I'm so mature, that I don't play Mature rated games...?
The first M rated game I played(and finished) was MGS2, and that was not that bad after the blood was turned off(which looks like paint anyway). The part near the end was kind of weird though...
The first rated M game I played was Halo 2. I think I was around 8 years old. (2004 I think) Me and my friend (also 8 at the time) beat it in around 3 hours.

Hmm, lets see. I play Combat Arms, Team Fortress 2, Halo, Counter Strike, Battlefield Heroes (which isnt even M) Left 4 Dead, Half Life, AND Modern Warfare. Need I say more?
