I'm not afraid of them. I just don't like going upside down while going really fast on a track of steel... I like the ones that don't go upside down though, mostly the wooden ones.

Terrified of them. I hate the fact that your not in control, and that I'm also Terrified of heights. So how I managed to go on Shockwave and G-force at Drayton Manor is really beyond me.

You have a better chance of dying doing almost anything else.

Speaking of doom, there's no need to fear a thrill ride. Roller coasters are exceptionally safe--just ask Linkenheimer, who's climbed aboard more than 400 coasters (he can't name a favorite). The mortality rate for coasters is one in 90 million--and of the 34 people who have died in roller coaster-related accident in the last 26 years, the majority were not exactly practicing the safety rules. Yep, there's a reason you're not supposed to stand up on the Steel Phantom.

I rode Chang at Six Flags in Louisville. I swear I may never have children. Just take a gander at the seats... sheesh.

I was terrified of roller coasters with loops until my friend convinced me to go on one, it was called the Shikra it had about seven loops and at the start they dangled you at a 100ft drop and I loved every bit of it

Last night I looked up at the stars and thought "Where the hell is my roof gone!?!"

Corbs

Not afraid of the speed, just the heights. The faster the better, but if they get too high up, I can't handle it.

Plain old gamer :)

MoogleMuffins

I know how you feel Corbie. When I realized how high it actually was, it was already too late to back down. The funny thing was everyone on the ride was screaming, I closed my eyes all the way through it and didn't make a noise. My girlfriend after thought it was because I didn't find it scary. I was absolutely terrified!

I'm terrified of heights so that means I'm terrified about Roller Coasters, too.

I hate theme parks and fairgrounds anyway.

Love 'em! Road tripped from NY to Sandusky, Ohio just to spend a weekend at a roller-coaster heaven called Cedar Point. Man, they've got some crazy ones there. I know you can't fight primal fear with logic, but Edwin's right - you got a better chance of dying on a flight of stairs. (Don't think about the stairs too much, you'll trip! Happens every time.)

I love roller coasters + they are one of the main reasons i want to visit America. However i am afraid of coasters.

Noire

Yes, I am. Rode a pathetically short and slow one and that still freaked me out. Now I just watch and laugh at people. I get much more enjoyment that way.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

Outrunner

No but the one in Barrys Protrush is a bit rubbish and hurts my ears...

"And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins." Matt. 1:21.

zane

Yeah i sort of got afraid of them arriving in my late twenties, some of those American coaster you really have to threat me with a gun to get on. I'm way to squeamish nowadays.

I hate roller coasters, to fast and to high for me. Flume rides, I have no problem with, but I can't stand roller coasters.

@Rensch
Same here. I'm terrified of heights and I never really liked theme parks or fairgrounds.

Wow, I didn't think this many people were afraid of roller coasters. Oh well. I love roller coasters. I haven't found one yet that I'm afraid of going on. It's funny. The first one I ever went on is the biggest one in Canada, so I guess there isn't any that can top my first experience of a roller coaster.
