Topic: Are 90s cartoons really better than today's cartoons?

Maybe it's me but the 90s has mostly awful and weird ADD characters. It has its gems like Batman, Daria and some of the Disney afternoon series but it also had characters with annoying personalities and gross humor. Not to mention that japanese animation started to decline in quality, both in animation and storytelling (I never understood the hype about Evangelion to be honest).

But like many stated before, TV is subjective and besides the older we get, the less important we are to animation studios.

You're right about the annoying characters. I hated a lot of shows during the 90's because they just went overboard with stupid humor. I feel the damage was done, though. A lot of shows nowadays can be just as bad, if not worse...

Are 90s cartoons better? Well, Xmen. That is all.

Your still wearing the nostalgia goggles. Some of the 80s and 90s stuff back then are just as bad as the bad cartoons today. Case in point, Mega Babies. Flash and CG are merely tools, the quality you get out of them is what you put into them. And most animation on TV these days is 2D, so do give me the excuse that most cartoons today are CG. And have you even seen most modern Cartoons these days?

-Adventure Time
-Regular Show
-MLP
-Korra
-Steven Universe
-Gravity Falls
-Wander Over Yander
-Over the Garden Wall
-Star Vs. the Forces of Evil
-Rick and Morty
-Bob's Burgers (Season 2 and onwards)

Shows just as good, and in some cases better than what the 80s and 90s gave us.

You could have had a half way decent argument if you hadn't stuck in MLP

The nostalgia for old cartoons is ridiculous. I still scratch my head as to why "Spider-man and his Amazing Friends" is considered to be a good show. People even argue that Pokemon was a "great show", when, let's be real here, it was pretty bad.

Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F

I'm not born in the 90's, but sometimes re-watching a show you watched in your childhood might not be the same as ever. I re-watched the 90's Spider-man and I don't feel the same way about the show. It's still good. After all, people do have different opinions.

It really depends on which cartoon or show. If the cartoon is crap, then we can say it's crap. If it's good, then it's good. Also, today's youth can SERIOUSLY laugh at our childhood.

I watched an entire season of M.A.S.K on the night before my brother got married and I think it is not very good. (I remembered liking it but I don't see the reason really maybe the toys).

I'm not sure if Shaneon was serious or just trying to get a rise, but it doesn't seem to be that great in the face of even the other shows you listed. Granted, I can't stand most cartoons these days due to my personal bais towards a focused story (and thus an aimless comedy simply won't appeal to me), but even for what it is, I don't see what makes it noteable compared to all the other mindless cartoons out there?

Granted, I could say that about a lot of cartoons in general. This is why I stick to (certain genres of) anime...

Tbh, I would rather watch anime in raw and try to translate them. Guess I'll find myself a tutor or learn from imabi.net

In all the seriousness, I would actually agree in you.

I mainly don't like CGI being applied to cartoon real life adaptions. Still being skeptical about SpongeBob the Movie 2 though, because most or all Nick shows are bland terrible.

Excellent logic, the only way I could possibly dislike it is if I haven't seen it. I've seen it and it's sickeningly stupid.

Bah, I seriously don't get why people love and hate My Little Pony. That's his opinion and sometimes, you can't do anything about it.
