Topic: Apple Keynote - October 16

Let's talk about the elephant in the room. Ok, multiple elephants.

Today Apple discussed:

• iOS 8.1
• Mac OS X Yosemite
• iPad Air 2
• iPad mini 3
• iMac with Retina 5K display
• Mac mini (late 2014)

Absolutely kickbutt keynote today. And that Retina 5K display, simply stunning.

Right now, I'm waiting for Yosemite to be released sometime soon. The anticipation is killing me!

Nothing really exciting. I was hoping for a complete redesign of the Mac line of products or an apple TV refresh. Beyond that the stuff that interested me was talked about last month. I like Google's announcement yesterdays much more even if they did price me out of the nexus program.

I was hoping for an Apple TV refresh, but I have a feeling that'll be early next year.

They refresh the Mac lineup in a rotation, MacBook Pro and Mac Pro were last year about this time. MacBook Air was over the summer and now we get new iMacs and Mac minis.

I will admit that the beginning was a little slow, but that's typical.

Hmm I want an ipad air 2 but I have to get a microsoft surface pro 3 first (using them for different reasons). Going to have to do a lot of shift begging soon.

I mostly just followed the headlines, and i'll watch it once twit has their version with commentary up online. More of a Google/Microsoft guy myself but I'm glad apple is opening up mobile payments to actually be a thing.

I'm excited that so many more companies and banks are on board with Apple Pay. It launches on Monday.

Yay, my iPad mini went crazy after the iOS 8 update, maybe next year I can get a mini 3 for my birthday.

The Apple Store is now live. My poor wallet is crying at the future stuff I'm going to buy.

Apple Watch is coming, and I'm going to get an iPhone 6S (awesome name, by the way) because I have a 5S. My iPad is 4th gen and will need to be upgraded in a couple years. At least I future proofed myself when I bought a Mac Pro.

So many Apple products, not enough money.

Mac Mini - Small update

Unsure if i'm going to stay on the android train or hope in with Microsoft yet, probably won't know until after next year's build and I/o. Google didn't make me happy with the price and memory of the nexus 9 or how big the six, without refreshing the price. Right now its looking like i'll be grabbing the lumia 1020 successor and a Surface pro, but i'm hoping Microsoft puts out an actual laptop.

I have a feeling the iPod Touch is going to be removed from the lineup soon, actually. Or replaced entirely.

They will replace it with the new ipad micro.

I was expecting an iPad Nano with a 5.5 inch screen...

That's called an iPhone 6 Plus.

I suppose. But they have the iPad mini at $249, iPad mini 2 at $299, and iPad mini 3 at $399 before you move into the Air line. Those are good entry level prices, but if you're looking for a smaller size, then I suppose you're out of luck.

I almost feel like the ipad mini is taking that spot. It is still too big for most pockets but if you are going jogging i think Apple is looking to consumers to buy either the mini or an iphone.

They still have the iPod Nano and Shuffle. They removed the Classic a few months ago, but I think Apple is pushing those two if you just want to listen to music. They haven't touched iPod Touch in two years and it has specs equal to (or slightly worse, I think) to the iPhone 4S. It's in its final year of support.

I don't understand why apple products are so hyped. They are quality, but you pay just for the apple name sometimes. I just don't see the point in buying a new phone/computer/tablet every year when it's not that much different.

They introduce new products every year to stay competitive, but even Apple doesn't expect you to buy a new product every year. That's why iOS devices get at least three years of support and Mac computers get many years of support with new features added in the software.
