Topic: Anyone want to start a gaming commentary group with me?

I'm a 23 year old male who lives in the US CST timezone. I'd like to find some friends to watch gaming recordings with and just commentate and have a good time similar to Brainscratchcomms on youtube for instance. I think 4 people (including me) is a good number, but I'm flexible on the exact number. 20+ is the age range I'm looking for just so we can have enough in common but I won't like refuse you or anything if you're a bit younger, and your gender is irrelevant.

I don't have any recording equipment right now but I'm thinking that is something we can all learn to do together. I'm also a grad student so I don't have a ton of free time but I'd still like to do this.

In terms of personalities, I'm kind of mild mannered and somewhat eccentric. I swear, but try not to do so excessively. Overall, I value humor and lightheartedness, but also politeness and as long as you're nice, I'm sure we'll get along.

I'm a nintendo fan. I'm talking pokemon, mario, some zelda, kirby, metered, the works. I have an open mind though and I'm willing to look at other series too.

All in all, I'm looking for gaming friends I can have a good time with. If you feel like you'd like to join me, message me or comment and I'll get back to you.

Hmmm. I already run a channel but this could be a fun side project since I have recording equipment and 6 years experience on the matter. Plus, being 19 and a game design student makes things interesting. Eccentric is always good, don't put yourself down for it.

I'm a bit opinionated and crazy, and on subjects I'm knowledgable about I can ramble for a while. I guess for your BrainScratch parallel I'm a fusion of Johnny and Lewis. I have a wide range of consoles, not just Nintendo, and I'm usually available to record when I'm not editing my own stuff up, and of course I'd like to help out. ^^

I'd be up for doing this. I tried doing LP's with my IRL friends but... it usually devolved into constant random tangents and not really being able to talk about anything related to the game (we all have very different tastes in gaming), so it would be nice to do this with someone serious about it. I also have a capture device so I could record newer games for us. Last but not least NINTENDOTHON HYPE!

...I just do silent gameplay videos, so...yeah. >.>

The idea of asking an internet forum I just joined to do this sort of thing with is baffling to me. Also, "I don't have any recording equipment right now." I'm sorry, what? Really? Really?

I feel like this is like the 5th time this has happened too. If it was an older member I might understand since this place has no PM system because...reasons. Also I feel like I've seen this exact thread before, practically word by word. Am I going crazy?

Also, why is anyone joining this? I would be so insulted by the lack of at least DOING SOMETHING beforehand. Let's Playing is not some difficult thing by any means, but it requires some effort and/or talent to be worth anyone's time (even for your own amusement, as I can assure you). When I started Let's Playing, I spent hours researching other people's suggestions on how to start. Then I spent close to 200 dollars on a capture card and headphones and spent hours testing everything I needed to about that. A few weeks in and the capture card suddenly refused to record things correctly and I spent way way too long trying every single thing I could to find a way to make it work. When I realized there was no hope, I eventually came back (after downloading some programs to record directly off my computer) which also took a bit of time to make sure it was working well. But when it came time for a 3rd Let's Play, I spent hours on getting the game to run properly. And when working on a 4th LP, I ran into more and more slowdown issues I had to try and fix the best I could and only at that point did I have a second commentator (who was a person I actually knew for years). Also during this time I subtitled cutscenes to make up for weird audio issues the game has. Not to mention audio editing, which doubled with a second commentator.

@kkslider5552000: Well Whoopdie doo for you that you had to work so hard to do something that's supposedly "not difficult by any means". It's not like you would have solved your multiple problems faster if you had other experienced LPers or learning LPers to help you and share advice.

Excuse me for wanting to do this primarily to make/cultivate friendships. Are you so high and mighty that you would rather rant about your own early failures and overcomplicated solutions instead of, I don't know, saying something f**cking helpful? "Oh look at me I had such a hard time starting something I claim to be super simple to do so this guy has no chance of figuring it out and I should be insulted he hasn't started yet A-HYUK"

And for your information, I have been recording games off my computer with MINIMAL ISSUES for WEEKS now and I'm going strong no thanks to you obviously. I've also mapped out strategies for audio recording and mixing, as well as editing and group logistics.

So why don't you take down your dilapidated soap box and flake off cause I don't have any more time for you. And don't bother replying; I won't read it anyway.

I'll be honest I'm looking for some fun, and I think you'll fulfill my needs or at least keep me entertained for a week if you are lucky enough.
My hook ups normally don't last 2 days, I lost intrests fast.
