God I hope Apple loses hard on this iPad gamble. It'd be like if Nintendo released a giant DSi less than a year before a new product generation launches.

So ends a saga older than time itself. The World's oldest and fiercest army has been led to victory, and a lost generation is delivered from its fear of extinction. As the sun sets over the field of conflict the dinosaurs disperse, hoping never to set foot in this place a...

Possibly. Not interested in it as a book reader - got my Kindle with its vastly superior screen for that, but as a very lightweight computer with apps included, it's appealing.
I travel a lot and I hate lugging my 15" notebook around.
I am gonna rewrite the question Anyone gonna waste 600 bucks on a bigger, non-portable ipod touch instead of saving 400 bucks on a smaller, portable ipod touch? MY ANSWER Heeellllllll NO!

Comparing a netbook (Which is essentially what the iPad is - Apple's take on a netbook), to a MP3 player is a little silly. They're entirely different product categories.

Seriously? What's the deal with paying $200 more for something that's supposed to be a $10 SDHC card?

Its not silly at all, it entirely pales in comparison to a netbook, so why not compare it to an MP3 player?
Sean Aaron ~ "The secret is out: I'm really an American cat-girl." Q: How many physicists does it take to change a light bulb? A: Two, one to hold the light bulb, the other to rotate the universe.
No. Seriously, there is very little reason to buy it. It can't even do things that would give non-laptop owners a reason to get it, like powerpoint, word, and the ability to play flash videos (how the omitted that I don't know.) I know of no one that is buying it.
It does have Pages and Keynote. Also Apple not usinfg flash as its been proven not to good for tablet battery life and they want to push HTML5.
From some of the apps i've seen coming out it does look to be a good medium between phone and laptops.
Also why is the Macbook air more expensive then a normal macbook if its crappier.

I dunno how many netbooks you've used, but I am pretty comfortable saying that the iPad is almost guaranteed to be more usable.
