First off, I know there's an article about this on Nintendo Life. I've read it, and I've been following it closely. (https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2010/06/guides_how_to_get_your_musical_creations_off_your_ds) The problem is when I record the sound quality turns out absolutely horrible. It's very garbled and crackly sounding, and I'm wondering if there's any tricks to fix that. I tried lowering the input volume that didn't really help. Anybody know anything about this?

is the garbled, crackly sound showing up even when your DS isn't playing anything? If so, maybe your cable may be to blame.
