"The day employers are to register job openings at Universities/schools/centers to be organized by a special team of Univ./school faculty divisions thus employment being EARNED by those who have knowledge (in recruitment) instead of jobs being GIVEN to those who know someone on the inside meaning openings and chances for specific employment that eventually will be based on some type of concrete criteria WILL BE the day I get hit by a baseball sized meteor, a 1:1,000,000,000,000 probability, clipping my head in such a way that I'm able to stay living but have no control over bodily functions." - Lun

That's if you can afford it for that. That's an expensive party for ten grand a semester. I'm under the impression that 90 percent go to school so they can hopefully use it and eventually live in a better financial situation personally as well have knowledge in their respective fields and perform work in those fields, I say Perform, not get snubbed, in order to collectively work with others who have credentials. I am believing more and more that's not the case

I'm also sick of seeing the "talking heads" on Fox News and other news channels talk about how the student debt has reached $1 trillion. They say students get done with college and owe all this money but can't get a job. Why would these people care. In fact, anyone who publicly speaks on the matter won't give the slightest care. All they'll do is point the finger. They are all bureaucrats who really don't care, why should they care they all have their dream job and everybody else is the one who just doesn't know how to take care of themselves.

... and then when you're in their position, you'll be the one with the 'dream job' and everyone else will be jealous of you. it's the way things go. i get that you're upset for whatever reason atm, but you have no idea what every single person on TV (or heck, standing around you when you go out) have gone through to get where they are today. they may come off as some kind of ideal, as if they stepped out of school and straight into that dream job you wish you were in right now, but there's a good chance they've had it just as bad (or worse!) than you.

and by sitting up there and talking nonsense, they're attempting to cement the idea that they're the fittest person for whatever job it is they're in at the moment. idk, i can't fault them for that kind of thing myself — obviously there are people who want to hear them flap their gums, just as many as for their opponents on those sorts of shows. it's all whatev' to me, lol.

@TBD, I understand where you're coming from, and I'd say you're right for the majority of what you just said. It just seems like it's the little stuff that really gets me. Firstly, It seems like the majority of people I see on TV's daily world news and local news shows are young. Although I don't agree with it, I can see how it might be pleasant for some to see a fresh youthful face. I would prefer someone who has been around for a while, worked their way into the system and has some street smarts. Also a lesser barrier between them (those young not getting hired) and their youthful counterparts. Or just the other day, I went to the doctor, one of my last visits before being booted off my family's medical insurance because I turned 27. The 20 year old nurse starts giving me life lessons about how I need to seriously consider getting a catastrophic policy AND ending her advise to me with saying "ya know what I mean jellybean". Like I'm a 2 year old. I sat there and listened all the way to the end to what she had to say. Really it felt like she was trying to put it in my face. I didn't react to that, but I'm thinking who the he** does she think she's is. I started telling her I couldn't afford to pay 200 dollars a month for insurance and would rather save what I could and I've been applying for work and been doing the darn best I can with what I've got. She starts telling me how everyone goes through what I'm going through right now. OK, I get that. But how can she empathize with what I or anyone else is "going through" as she puts it. She can't, I know it, everyone knows it. It's not that I'm jealous, it's I'm sick of hearing parental type advise from ignorant young people with minimal life experience when they think they know it all and can talk down on folks. Maybe it's because people like that ARE young, CAN perform their work very well, and can't yet understand the importance of what they do. However, I'm really sick of it, and it needs to be controlled.

sorry for the long post

I'm going to community college right now, in the hopes that it actually leads to a better life. It is hard to be optimistic right now, though. Seems to be getting more and more that it's not what you know, but who you know and how attractive you are. In my business class, for the purpose of argument, there were articles presented suggesting that taller, more attractive people get the best jobs. Well, duh! Companies know that other people are attracted to attractiveness, and that's what they want for a face of their company. Which kind of leaves me screwed, LOL. And a old friend of mine said friends of his that he went to college with were doing low wage, entry level jobs right now despite their education. Not encouraging. But, I KNOW I'll be stuck with those jobs all my life if I don't do this. So, I'm suffering through it. Like the saying goes, "life sucks, then you die, have a nice day"!

holy cow. you're a lot more restrained than me, lol — i'd'a asked her straight-up where she got off talking to me like that — i'm not your jellybean, sweetheart. wow.

you're right, though; i've had more than my share of that kind of 'parental-style' advice from people around that age myself because i didn't go to college, and the only thing that keeps me from blowing up sometimes is the fact that i can sit back and laugh because that's not how the real world works. we're taught in high school and by the media that scholarships, grants, just money in general grows on trees... it doesn't happen that way. and when life finally rears up and really bites 'em in the butt over something, they'll learn what all the rest of us had to learn too. the School of Hard Knocks provides the only education that really matters, IMO (besides kindergarten, anyway ).

ah well. we can only hope these kids eventually grow up and 'get it' without stumbling too hard, y'know? i know i said my own share of dumba** stuff and put my foot in my mouth many a time back when i was 20. maybe if you had spoken up and embarrassed her a little bit it would've accelerated the growing process... go for it next time someone pops off at you like that. it might help you feel better :3

Also, just because someone is young doesn't mean they are less experienced. There are people younger than me that I'm sure went through a lot more hell than I did in college.
