Topic: Any Good Music Albums?

I recently got $20 worth of iTunes credit, and I'm trying to figure out what to spend it on. I have plenty of games already, so now I need some good music. I like all kinds of music, particularly Rock 'n' roll, punk rock, alternative rock, Hard rock, the different kinds of electronic music, orchestral, Jazz, Reggae, even Metal if it has good instrumental and either no lyrics or really good sounding lyrics. Hell, I'll even listen to hip-hop and J-pop if you know of some really good ones. Basically the only ones I don't like are Rap, country, and funk.

As for what Albums I got, I ain't got much, just all the albums by The Killers, Americana and Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace by The Offspring, Take off Your Pants & Jacket by Blink-182, Queen's Greatest Hits (greatest hits my @$$, it's missing most of their best songs), Songs For Japan, some video game soundtracks, and songs from various albums, but nowhere near complete.

Are you an Offspring fan? if so, Ixnay on the Hombre was as good if not better than Americana, and Splinter (the last album they put out before R&F,R&G) also had a few good songs on it — Spare Me the Details makes me lol every single time i hear it :3 Enema of the State by Blink182 was better than Take Off Your Pants and Jacket IMO, idk if you've listened to that or not yet.

as for bands other than the aforementioned, give NOFX a shot, they're punk and absolutely hilarious. If you want your hilarity rated R, Mindless Self Indulgence is a favorite of mine. If you're in the mood for something hip-hop-y, try Ratatat — 9 Beats is excellent, and there's no words involved. :3

I actually looked up the songs on Enema of the State not long ago. It was okay, but there were only 3 songs on it that I liked (3 very good songs). I'll have to check out the rest, they seem pretty promising.

Suggestions by my three favorite bands, with links to a song from the album. Not many seem to like A Silver Mt. Zion, despite the fact that they're the best band ever, but the other two albums are pretty popular and worth looking into if you like either's style.

The Earth Is Not a Cold Dead Place by Explosions in the Sky.

The Flying Club Cup by Beirut.

Born Into Trouble as the Sparks Fly Upward by A Silver Mt. Zion.

Come on, friends,
To the bear arcades again.

Birdman

Some of my favorite albums (yes, some are very experimental):
Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion
Animal Collective - Feels
Arcade Fire - Funeral
Local Natives - Gorilla Manor
The Boxer Rebellion - Union
Owen Pallett - Heartland
Grizzly Bear - Veckatimest

Exactly.

I particularly like The Offspring's Conspiracy of One, and all of JET's albums (Get Born, Shine On, and Shaka Rock) are really good too. Anamanaguchi's stuff is good as well (Power Supply, Dawn Metropolis, and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game), and if you like orchestral stuff, check out some of Sonic Colors' soundtrack, Vivid Sound x Hybrid Colors. There, that should be a few choices.

there were a couple good songs, like One Fine Day and Want You Bad, but other than that it was pretty weak IMO. I'd suggest picking up Smash (or either of their earlier albums) before CoO, really, and if he doesn't have Ixnay yet, i still think he needs to get that one first lol :3

I'd give my suggestion.

I know you would disagree.

And even though you all know it.

I'll say it anyways.

GAGA!

QUEEN OF SASS

It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!

U2, pretty much cover every genre Mac and there is probably an album out of the 12 you will like.

Although Joshua Tree is very blues/jazz, Achtung Baby is Techno Rock whilst their 2000's Albums are pretty heavy rock. You can't go wrong. Their really early stuff is Punk influenced.

Eh, Queen's missing songs? I think you mean Greatest Hits II for the later stuff, the first album is perfect and is to me...miles better then the latter collection.

I'd give you a few myself as I have over 100 albums (even Offsprings greatest hits).

Most of it is 80's based though with INXS, Queen, Depeche Mode etc.

Oh! Not sure if you may like this band but if you happen to listen to songs from What's the Story? Morning Glory, you may live it or hate it...it's definately as Rock and Roll as you can get from the 90's.

Main Final Fantasy & Quest/Shinobi Team fan...but I do like many SEGA games and a few Nintendo games.

I can be cute if I want to be, but I choose not to...as it's not my style.

Tom Waits with Orphans. Seriously just listen to 2;19 from him. It's inspiring. Or Fish in the Jailhouse.

What isn't better than Take Off Your Pants? That is definitely their worst album. If you like Blink 182, look at Dude Ranch and Blink 182 as well as Enema of the State, or try Mark Hoppus's band +44. Only one album, but it is fantastic.
The new Sum 41 album Screaming Bloody Murder is actually really good. I'm listening to it now, I just got it. Their Chuck album is really good also.

The Game.

Is it after 9PM EST? You should probably ignore the above post.

theblackdragon

@RWP: I actually liked Enema better than Dude Ranch — DR has a few good songs, but Enema had more IMO. Sum41 is good times, though — i gotta check out their new album, lol.
