My gamestop's pretty Damn good. The only thing i can complain about is the lack of standalone GH/RB guitars, and taking out the 360 unit, wii unit, DS download play station, and only leaving the 360.

the worst thing about gamestop? gamestop itself! you can find better deals on games at best buy the trade in prices are rip offs and one guy even tried to trick me into buying a game. if i wasnt a real gamer, then i would have bought it
maybe its just my gamestop, but still i dont like it. i go to Play N Trade http://www.playntrade.com/# they have both new and used games at great prices, 8 systems to play on in the store (non demo versions), good trade in prices, and they host tournaments there!

@Token Girl.... actually my friend is a store manager at one, but I will only buy new and in the sealed case anymore, unless its a older hard to find game. I get really annoyed about the cases getting messed up as I keep my cases. Just really buggs me. Ive bought 8 games in the last month and not a 1 came from Gamestop.

@Stuff..... yeah sorry about being negative I know you work there as well. Customer service does vary from each store as we have 7 Gamestop stores within a 30 mile radius adn some are great and there are 2 that I will NOT go in as their customer service SUCKS. 2 of them absolutley rock...... but the sticker thing still bugs me big time.

My latest experience. I tired to get New Super Mario Bros. Wii, but they sold out. I sold three games that I didn't play anymore and I got $35. Now that's a great deal! It wasn't bad. And yes, I saw casual gamers buying Wii Fit Plus.
I've been to a store called Play'n Trade (unsure if it's the one briunj mentioned) and I'm impressed with it. I got MKW and SMRPG from there. Where the store was is now just empty. I'm not sure if it folded up or if the guy who runs the placed moved it somewhere else. I hope it ain't folded up, I like that store.

There is one of those around here. I haven't been to it, though.
The Game.
Is it after 9PM EST? You should probably ignore the above post.

No, that is a horrible deal. I traded in just Twilight Princess and got like $30 at GameCrazy.

If you think selling games back to Gamestop is a terrible deal, wait until you have to sell books back at college. $471 for the texts I bought at the beginning of the semester and I get $64 back? Gee, thanks.

Last I knew, the closest Game Crazy to me was an hour away. For all I know, it's even FURTHER now with the closings I hadn't heard about until I read it just now on this thread. And there are no Play 'N Trade's around here whatsoever...a shame, because I've heard nothing but good things about them.
So yeah...if you want a specialized video game store around here, your options are practically nonexistant. GameStop, or PowerGamer, which is a local four-store chain. It's a cool place because they still sell ALL old games (back through NES and even Atari 2600, maybe other junk too, but I've never asked and most of the REALLY old stuff is in boxes and not on display), and they do NOT hire non-gamer or mainstream idiots. They even have some import games! Only bad thing is their prices are sometimes less than competative (they're bad at noticing when GameStop lowers prices), and they routinely break street dates (which I do not condone, period). I don't go there too often overall.
My Backloggery Updated sporadically. Got my important online ID's on there, anyway. :P
@vendetta (2nd post) As someone who formerly worked for gamestop I have to point out that you are dead wrong on this. The employees can "rent" a copy of a new game. A new game at gamestop goes through this life cycle. "box is opened- new games are pulled out- every copy of the game that will fit in the new games section is 'gutted' which means the box is opened, and the game is put in a sleeve- The box goes on the shelf.- The employee after his shift signs a log to rent the game which is then signed by another employee as a witness- the employee then brings the game home with the display box and all of the manuals- should there be a code on the back of the manual, nothing can stop him from using it, whether it is for club nintendo or a guitar hero unlock code to get the songs in band hero, GHWT, what have you- the employee is allowed to play the game for up to 4 days- Then the employee brings the game back, puts it back in its sleeve, puts the display box back on the shelf, and it is up for sale as a 'NEW' game" Has anybody ever bought a new game from gamestop only to see that (on ds games) there is a save file already made, or that the club nintendo or guitar hero code on the manual does not work? THAT is why. I never used codes but I did rent a bunch of games.
as for the people talking of Play-N-Trade, I have one in my town and they are possibly the nicest, most generous people, I have ever had the pleasure to meet. They know me by name and even let me buy games from them without looks of disgust when they knew I worked for gamestop. Since I am a good customer of theirs, they even throw me a bonus every now and then. I bought a stack of snes games, and they said "hey, we sold you a sega dreamcast a while back didn't we? Tell you what. We have a full kit for samba de amigo (with the original maraca's not the cheap 3rd party things, and the original floor mats and sensor bars) it comes with everything you need for 2 players. How would you like it for 65% off?" That is a VERY expensive game now adays. So I got the used price WITH 65% off. top that with my 10-10-10 card and I bought it for less than 25%. I LOVE those guys!
